Since I had Dennis R. phase one kit installed, I have noticed that when at FTO, the car doesn't shift into high gear, unless I let my foot of the peddle a bit. This is at about 120 mph and 5200 rpm. Have any of you that have the Rienhart chip, 4:10's, etc. have this same problem, or am I having a tranny problem? I have had no problems with the car and the tranny doesn't slip or anything...just doesn't shift into high automatically...

IF your at Ful throttle, it should shift till it gets to the end of the powerband From the way it's sounds it's running perfect.

Sounds correct to me. Under WOT, it won't shift until the power band runs out, so if you're brave enough, it'd shift into 4th ooooooooh around 140+mph or so...

Your probably right, yet...... the car use to shift without me lifting my foot off the peddle into high gear at FTO. Since the gears and chip install, the performance has changed, for the better so much that I may be having a problem that really isn't there....??? Wonder if there is a way to check it out ?

Are you suggesting that I manually shift through the gears ? I have been just leaving it in Drive. Since the streets have finally dried out a bit, I will give it a try shifting manually. How much is a new tranny :-)

I didn't get your first question, Jim, I couldn't figure out what you were describing. Now it sounds a bit more clear. Shifting the MM manually is generally not a good thing, too much can go wrong. You can miss the shift and over rev the engine, or, you can stay in a particular gear too long, and over run your power band, or, hit your rev limiter, which is a waste of time and power and can be scary the first time you do it.
Most MMs with the Stage I kit peak at 5800 RPM, and there's not much power above that without a dyno tune. Risking your engine by pushing it (even accidentially) above 6000K isn't worth the risk. The OEM tachs are not as accurate as you suspect. It monitors only 1 COP and extrapolates RPMs from that. 6000 RPM on your dial may actually be 6500 RPM. My best advice, Jim, is to leave the car in drive, turn off the OD (green light is ON) and go for it.

I noticed that in your signature block that you don't have a MMDS, (Metal Matrix Drive Shaft), anything over the vehicles prescribed speed limiter is not recommended for safety reasons concerning the driveshaft vibrations. :( Be safe.

Carlos is absolutely correct...you can destroy the tailshaft bushing in very short order by driving at those speeds without the MMX driveshaft...in addition to the extreme safety hazard of driving at those speeds on public streets...

All sounds normal....I have the same setup. Mine shifts into 4 under WOT when it's damn well ready. I use Sarges advice...and if I know I am gonna hot dog hammer on it hard thru the bands, I turn the OD off first.
NOTE: The only problem I ever had with the tranny not shifting into OD under normal driving conditions was BEFORE I demanded the service department adjust my SHIFT LINKAGE. Since the adjustment, I have never had another problem with the all too common= not finding reverse, not shifting into 4 after a manual shift 1,2 and then into D, or just not going into OD at all.

No I havn't change drive shafts yet. I posted a thread about the fact that I don't feel or hear any sort of vibrations or noise at high speed. FYI - I don't get crazy and drive at this type speed, unless I am very sure of the road and the condition of it, ect. Safty first...something I learned when I was a Huey helicopter crew chief !!
My MM is a very early 300A Canadian, I have to wonder if maybe I have a good shaft....there again, rather than take the chance, I will be ordering one through Logan soon !!
