When the car is started and not moving and the heat turned all the way up it seems to blow cold air but than gets warmer when the car starts moving.

Also the defrost vents are the only vents that work, my 04 was the same way.

Any ideas???

1. Burp the baby! Common solution. Could also be the hVAC control module that blends the heat.

2 Have you tried Manual heat vs. Auto Temp? Any diff?

Just a couple of suggestions.

I had the problem with the defrost vents only working. I followed this guide http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36922&highlight=eatc. Fixed my problem.

I don't know what to tell you about the heat though.

What do you mean by burp it?

Only the defrost vents working... rebuild the eatc.
If it's still not getting warm enough, it may help to burp the cooling system by letting any trapped air out the fill hole in the coolant crossover tube.

Yes it felt a little bit peppier but the first set of cats are just gutted and I think if they were straight piped the air would flow better

Take the air out of the cooling system.

1st thing I check when heat gets cooler standing still is the radiator cap. Try that, as for the vents only working try the solution linked above

i burped my system and put in a new t-stat to fix the heat problem. as for blowing out the def vents only mine is doing the same thing. i think its a vaccum issue it seems to switch vents while driving or giving it gas, but not at idle.

It takes an engine a lot longer to warm up at idle (when it's not do any 'work' ) than when you start driving right away. I usually start driving once the oil pressure is up (30 sec or so). Take it easy on the engine until it's warm. Then :burnout:

EATC. I've rebuilt 2 of them so far. Same symptom. Same fix.

If you can't rebuild it yourself, they're about $600 at the dealer. Maybe 10 minutes to swap.
