Whens the last time you changed your brakes?

Is the vehice pulling to the side with the dust on the rims?

Could be that the opposite side pads are glazed over and not grabbing hence no dust? This could mean that the side with the dust is doing all the work?

Just a thought..... Need more info from you....:burnout:

Seems you got alot of posts about things not working, how long have you had the car and how well has it been maintained?

The caliper or the slide's that it move's back and forth on could be hanging up. Ir even the hose going to the caliper could be cloged not alowing a good release of the brake fluid pressure.

But if it is a caliper hanging up I would replace them in a pair so you get even brakeing again on both axel wheels.

There is just a thin rubber oring that pulls the piston back inside of the caliper and they do get tired especialy if the brake fluid is not changed every couple of years at the max the contamination causes them to give out faster.

The outer rubber you see on the piston is just a dust boot to keep the piston from rusting and has nothing to do with the piston return operation.

My first thought is the Left side front calipher is stuck and not retracting. Also possible that the Right front side is not engaging. Without any maintence history it is hard to say what could be the problem. Also, with low mileage and unknown brake service history (bleeding, pads, driving -- summer only?) it will be difficult to diagnose without driving the car. Finally, has car been driven in winter or parked for the season?

+1. You obviously have an issue with one side or the other. Best thing to do if you're handy is to take the wheels off and see how the pads are wearing. If there is plenty of life left but you do have some irregular wear then try a few simple things. Bleed the brakes and flush all the brake fluid out that you can, you should replace brake fluid every 2 years or 24K miles. The next thing to do is to lube all the slide pins and brake pad contact points. Clean your rims and monitor the situation if this problem persists then you most likely have a frozen caliper(s) or brake hose that has collapsed.

Pick a safe spot and drive the car about 20 -30mph in a straight line, tkae your hands off the steering wheel a apply moderate pressure on the brake pedal, the side that the car pulls to is causing the problem. In any case I do a brake job on the car. Maybe the previous owner only changed one set of pads.

The car is 6 years old with half the miles its supposed to have, its rotting away from lack of use just as parts would break from over use. I see it all the time. Like somebody said learn some basics to keep up on simple maintenance. You ask questions we answer them, we give you step by step instructions on some simple things to try solve your problem so do it or else pay somebody to do it for or you can do nothing and let the car rot in your garage.
