I'm trying to narrow this down. My Marauder has over 100,000 miles. On Cold mornings or if my car has been sitting over night, By first start up she sounds like a SQUEALING pig. She has been sounding like this for the past two weeks but eventually quiets down. But this morning she SQUEEEEEEEALED all the way to work. So tell me guys Belt Tensioner???

You can put a socket wrench in the hole on the arm, take the belt off and see if it turns smoothly or has play in it. They're cheap! I just replaced mine a month ago because the old one was jumping. I knew it was on it's way out. Don't let it go though. I had a belt tensioner pulley start eating into the timing cover on my Tbird years ago.

The tensioner, idler or belt.
With the engine at idle CAREFULLY take a loooong screwdriver and place the metal end against the bearing on the idler (make sure it's not the spinning part), put the other end to your ear, if you hear bad noises then that bearing is bad. Do the same to the idler bearing.
Personally I'd replace the tensioner, idler and the belt. Cheap insurance.

Replace the belt with Goodyear Gatorback belt and say good-bye to your squealing forever!

Give the belt a few shots oh belt dressing while its squealing...if it stops its the belt if not then the tensioner is very weak or the bearing is squealing.

Technically you're not supposed to use dressing on a serpentine system.
I would just replace the belt and tensioner at 100k anyway. I did mine at 65k and it made a world of difference.

Oddly, I went to the FLM dealer yesterday and the serpentine idler pulley came up but not the smooth one next to it. 42 bucks for the serpentine one. I will get the smooth one from flaps and the tensioner and install them all this week. Mine made a hideous noise on startup and would only squeak when it rained.

Do yourself and your MM a favor and spring for a Gatorback belt.

Not even joking here, if you have the chance to loosen the belt and get it off the alternator, try spinning the alternator pulley by hand. Mine made all KINDS of racket before i replaced it, something to do with the bearings getting screwed up.

Am I missing something? I was not wrong in my statement.
Don't use oil, brake fluid or belt dressing. Doing so could very well make the serpentine drive belt unusable. One of many sources: http://autorepair.about.com/library/weekly/aa071205b.htm
So I'm confused.

Sorry Buddy ...was just the mood I was in...its just " technically" I'm a racer at heart and "technically" i consider there isn't anything you you can't do to a car or engine....its just whether you can get away with it or not.
example; there was a post here that someone went 60k miles with NO oil change....there was no mention that the car wasn't running fine...sooo it maybe would have gone another 60k who knows.
example;I have run meth injection on my mustang for 4 years now and have a really aggressive race tune for it "technically" it should have popped or at the very least my rotors should have corroded beyond repair...nope.
I think what you are quoting is the heavy use of vht on the belts in an attempt to curb belt slippage ...oops wait I do that too...dam...but I also change my belt 2 times a year.
So you are right from an everyday vehicle stand point its bad the belt tends to break down and get hard or something, but in my world as long as its safe anything goes.... and I did only say "give the belt a few shots".

Sounds good :)
I can say in terms of belt dressing, I used to use tons of it on my first car that had a Chevy 305 and an old non serpentine multi-belt system. The stuff is pretty sticky so my fear would be getting that junk on other pulleys, though, it can be cleaned off when the new belt is put on.
I did like that link I posted also said not to put brake fluid on your belt...lol
