Hi Guys
I just had to do it, probably the worlds only Marauder with sequencing turn signals, one day I might buy a car with three turn signal bulbs :D
20 second video of my Marauder with sequential turn signals (http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/video/Marauder%20Sequential%20Turn%2 0Signals.AVI) (7.6mb .avi file)
Oh yeah Al (Megaforcer) supplied and fitted some Crown Victoria Sport tail lights with the yellow turn signals before the car left the states so that I can comply with Euro lighting regulations.

Cool!
So, only the tailight lens was swapped out from the OEM red?
You willing to share how you did the sequential thing?

You are the second Marauder. The member "smoke" has them as well but he has them in his red taillights not the amber.
They look cool.

I thought they may have been a vendor around here, or I perhaps just read up on this OLD THREAD (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23893&highlight=webelectric)
I like 'em. They are just little relay like things that wire up easily out back. Lots of support from the guy who makes them too. Just a nod back to the old days for this Mercury fan :D
Dereck's is certainly the only one I know of in the world that sequences like that though!

How much and where do I order the kit. That would look even better with white strobes in the reverse lenses. Might be too cop by then though.

Hi Guys
I bought a kit for the 96 - 2004 Mustang from meter4it.com (http://www.meter4it.com/) it is a million times better than the webelectronics ***** and has settings for sequential, chase and factory lights.
I also had to add a couple of resistors to simulate light bulbs to stop the LCM from having a paranoic fit as when you fit the sequential module you disconnect one bulb from the circuit
First I added a couple extra bulb holders for the yellow turn signals
http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/2003MercuryMarauder/Marauder%20Light%20Conversion% 20002.jpg
Fitted the module to the CD changer bracket
http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/2003MercuryMarauder/Marauder%20Light%20Conversion% 20004.jpg
And added a couple resitors on a heat sink mounting them in the rear fender

Did you go with the flasher kit or non-flasher kit?

Hi Fastblackmerc
The non flasher kit, you do not need the flasher relay and cannot fit it anyway as you have an LCM.

That's pretty neat . Hope you don't get rear ended by people who are hypnotised by the strobe effect or even the unusualness of it. Good luck

certainly cool but dosent have the same effect as on a stang. good job though!

That's pretty cool. I have to get this for my car also, but how does it work when you break does it light up then also?
Or will the module "filter" the break signal and eliminate the need for a separate turn signal wire?

Hi 252Life
My brake lights are now separate from the turn signals so work as usual but if you wire the sequential module into your regular stop/turn signal bulbs when you press the brake the stop lights illuminate in sequence then stay lit, when you release the brake they extinguish in sequence.

It's kinda cool. I don't love it enough to do it though. Sequentials work better with a wider tailight (like the older aero CV/GM) or with multiple taillights (Mustang).

Yes I am resurrecting an old thread in the hope of understanding (FINALLY!) how to separate the turn signals and stop lamps...
Dereck, how did you accomplish this?

Well it was worth a try. I would love to know how to do this without bypassing the MFS and running a wire all the way to the rear to split the brake lights and turn signals.
Confession: I am a CVN member.
I use to have an '08 Bullitt Mustang that I put sequential lights in. Wish I would have kept that wiring harness I'm sure it could have been modified to work on my Marauder.

Hi Isutigers93
Yes I am resurrecting an old thread in the hope of understanding (FINALLY!) how to separate the turn signals and stop lamps...
Dereck, how did you accomplish this?
I get asked about this with regular monotony so I greckon it's about time I got of my fat ass and posted up some more information.
The parts I assembled for this job
Bosch relay part # 0 332 209 158 (It has a built in mounting bracket and a diode to quench the high voltage spikes caused when the relay switches)
A pair of Crown Victoria Sport tail lights
Sequential turn signal module for a 96 - 04 Mustang from Meter4it.com (http://www.meter4it.com) (You do not need the flasher relay)
A pair of 6.8ohm x 50watt resistors (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/panel-mount-fixed-resistors/0160922/)
Some used bulb holders from the boneyad complete with a length of wire
Aftermarket fuse box
A heatsink
Heatsink compound
Wire, connectors, fuses, self tapping screws, ETC
First job is to run in a fused power wire from the battery (side post on the power distribution box) to the trunk, this will power your stop lights and the sequential turn signal module, I used a 30 amp fuse at the power box under the hood then fused the stop lights and turn signals separately in the trunk.
Next job is to cut the Dark Green wire on the multi-function switch, this disables the stop lights but you still retain the turn signals using the factory wiring (more later).
Then remove the tail lights and make yourself a little wiring harness for the yellow turn signals with the used bulb holders from the boneyard, I punctured the rubber grommet around the OEM wiring with a nail, this allows you to poke you new turn signal wires into the trunk in a water tight manner, I used different wire colors for the inner and outer bulbs so I could remember which was which and sequence them in the order I wanted, now fit your Crown Victoria tail lights.
http://superstitiongold.com/lincoln/MarauderSequentialTurnSignals/Marauder%20Sequential%20Bulb%2 0Harness.jpg
http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/2003MercuryMarauder/Marauder%20Light%20Conversion% 20002.jpg
http://superstitiongold.com/lincoln/MarauderSequentialTurnSignals/Marauder%20Rear%20Turn%20Signa l%20Harness.JPG
Next job was to mount the sequential signal module to the CD changer bracket and wire it into the extra turn signal bulbs, give it a fused power supply off the wire you ran in earlier and don't forget to connect the ground wire.
My module mounted to the CD changer bracket
http://superstitiongold.com/lincoln/MarauderSequentialTurnSignals/Marauder%20Sequential%20Module .jpg
Then fit your two resistors onto a heatsink using some heatsink compound, these resistors are used to simulate "missing" turn signal bulbs and fool the LCM, they get hot just like a bulb which is why you mount them on a heatsink, in all reality though I suspect just mounting them on some sheet metal in the trunk would be adequate.
Here are my resistors mounted behind the fuel pump inertia switch (That heatsink is way overkill but I had in lying around)
http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/2003MercuryMarauder/Marauder%20Light%20Conversion% 20006.jpg
Then you will need to cut the OEM stop/turn wires (Light Green/Orange & Orange/Light Blue) and connect then into the new turn signal bulbs you added earlier along with the resistors and the sequential module as in the following diagram.
http://www.superstitiongold.com/lincoln/2003MercuryMarauder/Mercury%20Marauder%20Sequentia l%20Turn%20Signals.JPG
Now you should have a nice set of sequencing yellow turn signals but no stop lights, so splice into the Dark Green hi-level brake light wire, you can find this wire in the trunk behind the spare tire running up the seat back. Now mount a relay (I mounted mine behind the fuel pump inertia switch) and wire it into the OEM stop lamps as in the following diagram using the power wire you ran in earlier
http://superstitiongold.com/lincoln/MarauderSequentialTurnSignals/Mercury%20Marauder%20Sequentia l%20Stop%20Lights%20Wiring.JPG
Here is my stop lamp relay
http://superstitiongold.com/lincoln/MarauderSequentialTurnSignals/Marauder%20Sequential%20Stop%2 0Light%20Relay.jpg
I also used a fuse box like this one mounted beside the fuel pump inertia switch to fuse the turn sugnal module and stop lights.
http://espimages.biz/2386/I/506/0/6%20Blade.JPG
Hopefully you should now be able to fit yourself some sequencing yellow turn signals to your Marauder, any questions you can email me to the address found in my profile.
Regards
Dereck
