2nd to 3rd Gear Change

Hello fellow MM owners ;is it normal for my 03 MM to has a slight drop or halt in RPM climb when the transmission changes from 2nd to 3rd gear ?

Yeah,but its almost like the tach loses 50 or so rpm.

yea thats how mine is. you hit 4th by 40mph too?

Mine shifts pretty easily from 2nd to 3rd. It's when she drops into 4th/OD that there's an obvious drop in RPM. Can be jolting sometimes. I don't know the OD gear ratio but I guess that with the 3:55's really pulls mine down.

Thanks for the info;ive truthfully not paid attention to the 40mph in 4th deal but i will check that out. I was just wondering if those shift characteristics were normal or if I had a problem brewing. Im a 5.0 mustang w/5 speed guy and I absolutely hate how these MM shift.

Contact Lidio, Reinhart, Zack or other knowledgeable tuners; get a performance tune from them. That will go a long way to resolving issues with your shift schedule.

you see that ^^^^^^ his responses to your questions!!! i have the same thing going on with my car and i even beat him to the punch and asked him questions about his car that mine does!!!...the reason why i say this is because of my time (see my sig) and the fact that theres a case of me, "not being stock"....and like wickedmerc said about 4th gear how it drops down mine goes to almost 1000rpms

Lidio is a legit forum vendor in michigan, i have his tune and am very happy with it

Zack is a crook that steals tunes from other tuner shops by buying locked Xcal2's and 3's and taking them as his own.... Theirs a reason why SCT terminated his ability to support Xcal3's....

Friend, Zack has forgotten more about MM tunes than you'll ever hope to learn. Unless you've had a specific issue with his work personally, do the newbie a favor and drop the editorial comments.

I ask the question again: Have you, personally, ever run a Zack tune, or have you, personally, ever had any work done on your car by Zack that has caused you any problems?

BTW, Since we are dragging good ole #33 up from the archives, don't forget the rest of the story...

1. Freezing temps causing fuel cap to shatter and admitting to moisture all over, in, and on said gas cap, so moisture in tank is not out of the question.
2. Failing to have the car retuned to the new climate it was being RACED in.
3. No race fuel for added security.
4. No oil change since purchase.
5. 2.8 pulley on a stock block pushing 13.5 boost at a race track, I would never have guessed that might be bad with out a $300.00 check up on a dyno for my own piece of mind.

the car was running high boost in cold weather on stock internals. it could have blown at anytime as any of the other mms running boost with stock internals, mine included. obviously it never blew up in Zacks hands and im pretty sure Zack isnt a used car dealer who could have offered an ESP. as with anyhting used "sold as is".

If any one is looking for a tune, go to Lidio's website & do some reading,
get a little education before you choose, my 2 cents- Lidio is the only tuner mentiond here who has many write ups in major mags, and has
by far the best reputation, (he shouldn't even be compared to the other two) again just go to his website do a little research.
