Intake silencer and probably fine to cap, but must be selaed to prevent umetered air getting in.

Check the ID of the hole, it may be real close to the OD of a small block chevy breather cap. If it is, just stuff the closed end of the breather cap into the opening and hose clamp it in place. IIRC, this is what jamestang did with his car before going to a JLT.

Not sure of your size, but on a MM a beer can is a perfect fit in a pinch!

I did not know this!

Here's my chance to combine beneficial re-use with a marketing opportunity.

If anybody wants a custom snorkle delete for your OEM intake tube, give me a holler! (I have inventory on hand.)

We learned this at the track with lowbuckmm's car after his nitrous blew that silencer off the intake halfway down the strip LOL.

DONT REMOVE THAT!!!! The engine will seize and never run again, don't pull that off the intake!!!

Get rid of that whole intake tube, its crap... Find a 04+ P71 intake tube to replace it with... No S bend, just a straight curve to the TB....

this is what your looking for, www.adtr.net (http://www.adtr.net) sells them brand new

Well he's already got a JLT coming but yeah i probably would have done what you suggested....

Whatever, they both work

either way...you gonna have more air avaliable to your motor than it can even use IMHO

It wont make a huge difference.... Now if he swaps the MAF then he will need a retune for sure... But just a intake tube and filter wont make the car run lean.

I am pretty interested in the HP gains clearing up the intake that much on a 2V...I bet it is a good 8-10 HP

i removed it and pluged it with a PVC Cap and instlled jlt CIA.

Helmholtz resonator. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_resonance

Pretty neat article.
So it acts sort of like an accumulator for air systems.
There must be an engine speed where the resonance is bad. Otherwise FORD would not have spent the extra money on it.

Because of a silencer?

Lift that engine cover off let me see whats under there so i can tell you why it WILL fit...

Your S shaped piece of crap tube got replaced, theirs no reason why it wont fit

I think the one towards the back is just the PCV connection, which isnt that hard to deal with... Or you could just put a filter on it.

if u look at the ppicture i posted you will see the silencer wich i dont need. then of course is the connection to the throttle body. but what do i do with the connection right before the throttle body.?? what is that one for?
i circled it on the picture

Take a picture under the engine cover so i can see it better, but i think its just another silencer under it... The one next to the throttle body looks to me like the PCV connection, you can just run a hose off the other tube to the same spot or put a filter on it.

It will fit, its all bolt on and go, its not as complicated as you are making it out to be... They switched to this style of tube in 2004+

curiosoocho

here the pic again. i attached below. i circled all the area. i know its not complicated to install a new intake tube.

but what do i do with the other connection to the left of the throttle body?

are u sure i can put a filter on that?

and wat about the hoses on the rear does the new intake have those connections?

If the engine will seize if you remove the resonator, how come aftermarket cold air kits that don't have it work fine? Or was that a joke?

well i removed my resonater and installed a cap on it and it works fine

here i circled what i need to know

Once again

The first connection closest to the front of the engine cover i am 90% positive is just another silencer, like the one that you already removed and capped off. The second is to the throttle body, and the last one is to the PCV on the valve cover...
