I'm amazed at the fact that eventhough our platform is dominated by service vehicles, ie; Police, taxi, livery, ect. , People generally give me kudos on both my Panthers.
So even people who never would purchase a Panther, probably have at least ridden in one (maybe not by thier choice LOL!).
Despite the fact that Millions of Panthers have been produced, they still capture an amazing amount of attention to the public.

I am constantly amazed at how people look at my car and ask questions.

What really shocked me was when earlier this year I was at an ALL FORD car show and I had 6 people ask me what a marauder was and they have NEVER seen one before.

When I travel, I generally get picked up at the house in a taxi. Most are Crown Vics or Grand Marquis. Many are former police cars sold at auction. Cabbies love 'em for comfort and ride. Have seen a few up around 350,000 miles.

Lots of the drivers ask about the Marauder in my driveway and want to know all about it. I am glad to give them the full story. No way my MM is gonna sit in an airport parking lot or garage while I am away on a trip.

I just asked a garage that I go to for alignments (I've saved just about all his computers and data at one time or another!) about doing a CLT on my MM and he said "What year??? "Are you sure?" Uh... yeah! He checked his online manuals and couldn't find a 03 MM! Yeah... I'll call you later! Going to a pro speed engine shop now...

I get maybe one look a week, and it's usually somebody in a cv or gm. Marauders are pretty rare here, I've seen 2 others in the past year. Maybe about once every 2 or 3 months, somebody who knows what it is will complement me or ask something, which is nice. I think most other people just think it's a "blinged out" cv.

I used to get a good amount of comments here and there. None for quite some time though. Most never heard of the Marauder. Some comment that they think its a CV, GM or CVPI, etc. Some think its supercharged. Some think I modded it or I just put some fancy rims on (a cop even told me that once). Most adults comment that they like big or comfy cars but they drive a small car and have fond memories of riding in a large car when they grew up. Younger people however do appear to have a hate for large sedans (why would you need a large sedan? Get a small fast car, or even just get a truck or SUV?). Maybe some of it is because at one time it was a import (small) versus domestic (big) thing. There is a lot of hate out there for domestic cars (due to bad quality gas mileage years which forced most of the nation to gravitate to imports and would never consider going back to a domestic car). They also seem to think the car gets like 10 miles a gallon. I think there is still some perception from the 70s there that big cars guzzle huge amounts of gas. I haven't considered my car as getting that bad of gas mileage, especially since I discovered driving like grandpa and using cruise control as often as possible.

Really? which is why the majority of this site is now 30 and younger?

Why dont you go peep a visit over on CVN, the majority of new members are like 16-20 buying old ass P71's and trying to make them as fast as SVT cobras on a budget of 500 dollars...

I dont hate my car, i just want another one

I do hate that it suffers from panther platform depreciation of value syndrome... I bought my car for what todd is selling his for :bigcry: Which at the time was average.... When I got mine, their was a total of 3, three, tres marauders in the entire state of NJ for sale... One i looked at and was crap... Now theirs TONS of them for sale for half of what i paid... Ugh

I have to agree, but my MM gets less looks than my work ride which is a P71.

I have had similar experiences. They can not believe I get 19.1 MPH average and 24 MPH on trips. One guy said I should turn it in for 'cash for clunkers' So I found out he drove a 92 Lexus, worth about $3000. The Lexus qualified for the cash for clunkers at 18 MPG and He could have recieved $4500 for it. Found out he drives a small honda on trips that gets 30 MPG. I would think the Lexus would be preferred on trips, I am confused?

The Marauder is great on the Freeway. I arrive after a long trip without being overly tired. Jim

when i had my crown vic i loved it the ride, size and its a nice looking car IF you keep it clean and intact...after i sold it i wanted luxary so M45 was my choice...my dad had a 72 mustang and traded for a luxary car. i asked him did he regret it and he said he did. i wasnt gona make that same choice...after that i started looking for a marauder. its a more luxary car of a gm but on steroids.lol...best choice ive made. i can always get a luxary car but how hard is it to find a good MM already, think a couple years from now.

I just bought my first marauder yesterday and i got two compliments at gas stations on the way back home as well as plenty of looks. Even the state troopers that pulled me over on the way home (luckily warning for no front license plate, not speeding) complimented me on the "custom" seats and interior. I told them its a marauder and that it comes that way and with a more powerful dohc engine. They were very impressed.
By the way Im 20 years old and love big cars and hate small ones
