Watch out for them duechbags. I once took my turd mobile to Batavia Walmart to get the oil changed only to get home and find my filter cross threaded and lost about half the oil. One of the few times I did not change my oil myself and it back fired. I dont trust any place. Im not sure if it will harm it but just get under it and drain a little. 6 quarts for me too

Wait at least 10 minutes after shutting off the engine, then check the dipstick. It should be a hair over the max fill line, if they really did add extra oil, and didn't just say they did.
Most likely, an extra half quart won't make any notable difference. And, it's certainly not going to cause any damage.

Whether it's 6 or 6.5, just fill it to the "full" line on the dipstick, dipstick.

Not telling you what to do but I would NEVER go to Walmart for any car services. I do however purchase my oil supplies there. Get to know your car and turn your own wrenches!

+1. Changing oil is easy. There are even equipment to make it easier. I installed one of these. No more hot plug, no more dropping said hot plug in oil drain pan.

Added this for more piece of mind.

I agree change your own oil IF you have a garage. Where I live the association frowns on changing oil in the parking lot. I take mine to a private mechanic, to have the oil changed & had it done recently--he put in 6 & 1/2 quarts as the manual says---no problem. About wheel alignments--had mine done a couple of times at the dealership--still had wear on the inside. My mechanic who doesn't do alignments said to take it to PeP Boys, they use laser technology & I had it done by them 4 mos. ago & now the tires wear perfectly ! Damn who'd think that PeP Boys, would have the answer !!!!:)

Change your oil BEFORE winter.

Go to the dealer. Just buy the oil at Walmart or online or whatever, and then pay the dealer the $20 or whatever it is to change it and give you a new filter. ;)

They keep the extra 1/2 quart, charge you for it, then they change their own oil after 12 customer changes. ;)

Oh JFC :shake:

If you don't have the place to do an oil change or dont know how, please find a reputable FoMoCo dealer, I wouldn't trust any Supermercado Del Walmarto grease monkey mechanic....

The Mod motor crank doesn't extend into the pan so that 1/2 quart is ok...heck even 2 extra quarts won't hurt....unless you like to go 90mph down very bumpy roads...:)

Autocross junkies around here been doing that for years...helps keep the oil pump pickup fully submerged during those 1g plus turns,,, :burnout:

The only thing I'd buy at "wally world" are the FL-820S filters. I use 0w-20 AMSOIL and they don't sell that there...

7 quarts scares me. I want a windage tray, then I'll put more in.

Re: easy drain plug. What about those metallic plugs, better to remove plug and wipe off metal debris?

I put in six, then start the motor. You lose about half a quart in the filter or somewhere because I always have to add about a half to top it off after the engine has ran a little bit. Gotta love that 4 foot long, 2-part dipstick! It's like trying to push spaghetti through a stir straw.

I believe these motors already have windage trays.
