Hi ya'll!!

I'm in a pickel and need help...fast. Today I just bought a 2006 CVPI with 70K miles (I will start a new thread and give more details and pics soon).

I went to change the fuel filter, which I have done on panthers over 20 times already, and for the life of me could not figure out what kind of hack job clip is on the front end of the filter.

I always just deal with the little white clips. This 2006 is attached with I don't even know what.

Worse, look at all the rust and junk that dripped off out after disconnecting the rear end of the filter.

I am not driving the car until I hear from you guys.

Is this the 2006 fuel filter set up, or just a hack job? What's with the way the fuel line loops in the front end?

HELP!!!

Here are the pics.

Where are is the white clip?

How does one release the front end of this filter. I tried pulling, but I am not the HULK.

Looks OEM. Looks like the fitting that connects to the fuel tank. Gotta have one of them funky little tools to get it off.

That is definitely OEM. My '94 Thunderbird was just like that. So is my buddy's 2004 F-150.

As others said ^^^, you need to get the filter-line removal tool. They're cheap.

I want to thank you all for the help.

I went to Napa and bought what I "thought" was the correct item, until I actually tried to remove the filter with it. All the settings are too large.

I made a quick run to Advance Auto Parts and found a tool that fits.

Here are the pics. The one on the left is what works. (edit: the one on the "right" is the correct tool. Not the one from NAPA.

I corrected my post above.

Actually, I did pay attention to the details. I went to Napa and asked for a Fuel Line Filter Disconnect tool and they handed me the one shown on the left. It says on the packaging that it's for Ford so I thought nothing more of it. It doesn't work.

The tool shown on the right doesn't say Ford anywhere, but it works.

Cheers.
