Don't think anyone has done this. IMHO, would take too much time & $$$'s for little gain. A nice set of driving gloves would be a better option.

Will be installing rear seat warmers this year.

Start the car early, turn the vents on, direct them toward the wheel, when you get in 10:00, and 2:00 will be nice and toasty, I found this the first winter I had mine.

Does it really need more electrical crap to go potentially go wrong?

Letting the car run with the heater on is an option. I don't think it is good for the cars plugs cats o2 ect. I just don't like leaving it idle for more than five min. I would rather use the seat heater & wheel heater if possiable.

Oh I need to breath warm air too. I let mine idle for 15 to 20 minutes before I set my tooshie in my cars. Been doing that since high school and never had a problem with any car.

It's better to let the car idle in the cold and reach normal operating temp, than to turn on the car and force it right away. At least let it warm up for a couple minutes. Your car will thank you.

Maybe I should toss the old school thought about letting the car idle for long periods of time out the window. Todays ignition system does burn fuel far more efficiently.

Looks like Ford may have read your mind:

May be able to retrofit with the new OEM offerings.

When I was looking 2 years ago this one was 100 bucks more was around 229.00 like all electronics it came down a lot...it has been flawless for me.

The tech was non to happy about the heated seats...muttered something about there should be a butt in the seat when its turned on or something....

Show me an air conditioned wheel and then I'll be impressed. Be perfect for the beach!

Wouldn't it be nice if a car company had intergraded roof solar panels that would power control the heat A/C & seat warmer temps. This way when we return to our car the cabin is comfotable.

I believe Late model Cadillac's had a heated and cooled steering wheel.

I'd be happy if the heater actually cooled the interior in the summer and heated it in the winter instead of just sort of blowing luke-cool or luke-warm air around.

Plus, I hate the new heater controls. I miss my 3 round knobs. It was simple. You could do it by feel. Now I have to look in a sea of buttons for the right one.

Mine "works" "fine". I think it's just a weak system in general. Any defroster that takes 10 minutes to clear fog off the inside of the windshield is weak to me. I've driven cheapo econoboxes that had more powerful blowers in them.
