I like the sound little more deeper on idle/revs IMO.
Created a quick clip of the new Magnaflow X Pipe w/existing Flowmaster 2 Chambers:

Did the wifes FRPP X-pipe w/GTAs Axle Backs as well:

did you let it warm up?

yeah I let it get up to operating temperature. 36 degrees when I did the vid. When I do the shorties I am going to have them do 2.5" from the cats to the new 14" Magnaflows and leave the piping 2.25" to the tailpipe. Actually the Flows dont sound to bad with the X Pipe...alot deeper sounding than with the H pipe.

I think it sounded fantastic.

+1 OMG!!! I never gun a cold engine.. It does sound pretty good though.
Somehow mine wouldn't sound the same with just those items. I wonder why?

man listened to that vid again and your pistons really are loud as hell :burnout:

^yeah I sent a sound clip over to MMR they said its normal for 2618 forged pistons until it warms up to operating temperature it goes away completely. I hear offset wrist pins are quieter during cold starts.

There is some way that works, my motor is pretty much silent. I'll can ask the VT builder who did mine what he did to make it so quiet next time I see him.

What pistons did you get Forged 2618 or 4032 alloy pistons like Mahle or Pistons with offsetwrist pins? It's pretty annoying.

No idea, I'd have to ask. Pops is the man, so when my stroker died a horrible death I just asked him to hook it up as he saw fit. He asked if I wanted lower compression and if I wanted to go big bore, other than that he did his thing and hooked me up.
PS if memory serves the pistons ended up being CP and the rods Manley, but they both have stuff made out of different materials... and I can't look cuz I don't keep receipts LOL

Yeah, my build card was lost by the installer...PO! They didnt give me my dyno sheet either... after a month and 3-4 calls/emails no word. I called the builder MMR and they dont keep records of the build all information on the build card w/all the motor specs...All I have to go by is my invoice. I have the sign off sheet that does contains some info.

Based on your experience, I just would not feel comfortable doing businesss with MMR. I think you have handled this whole situation much better then I would have done. Hopefully, your exhaust and tune work will resolve your engine issues.
I still think FRPP Aluminator engine is a serious option to investigate on any rebuild, but with an unknown final HP rating. You just cannot beat Ford quality. It is a shame we never really got a Dyno reading from Rich on his Aluminator engine. So the engine still has some questions on its final performance. (Ray from FL seem to be pleased with his Aluminator replacement engine after he blew his OEM engine at SSHS9.)
One point that is clear is that the OEM engine has several interesting points going for it that many have overlooked. One = the nonforged pistons are very quiet and perhaps stronger then we orginally assumed especially in light of information on the new Mustang GT 412 HP engine which uses similar pistons and rods. Two = the combined weight of the OEM pistons and rods is significantly lighter then forged piston and rods. This lighter weight apparently is responsible for 20-30 HP on the engine or in other words the heavier forged parts "cost" 20 or more HP. Rick referenced this in some of his guarded wording on his HP which I felt was disappointing to him.
I am beginning to wonder if another option to replacing a toasted engine is just to obtain another OEM engine in good shape and run with it. The tune is critical and can keep even a SC engine running well. It certainly would be a great deal cheaper. But, on the down side with this option - the expertise on MM engine tuning has not grown, but is starting to disappear in the country. Jerry W. is not available any longer, Lidio is not big on MMs any more, but Dennis Reinhart is still doing good tunes.
Just some thoughts --

Hey Glenn,
I wouldn't place all blame to my HP levels on MMR. My biggest grip is finding a really good tuner who has experience on this platform. I still dont have my dyno sheet that validates my actual rwhp/AF etc. The shop I used to install and tune the Marauder has sold their dyno (had issues with it I hear?) so I dont even know if what they verbally told me is accurate. I am looking at a local shop just to spin it on the dyno and a/f.
Like other's have stated 91 octane fuel, mild cams, stock manifolds bring NA power down but lack of tuner knowledge on this platform is most frustrating. Only one in my area dynotuning.com has experience but is 2.5hrs away. Funny I spoke to the owner Brad and he's built two motors for a MM owner in SoCal. The Marauder owner even flew Lidio out there for one of the first Trilogy kits that was sold and he has since upgraded it to the Lysholm (October). I asked about the motor he built for the Marauder owner and he said $19K in motor alone and this is his second one built from him! The old motor let loose on the dyno...I think. Hmmm maybe MMR aint so bad after all. I wonder if he is a member on this site?
I really looked hard at the FRPP Aluminator setup and is probably enough to satisfy most of the folks here. I wanted to go big bore (I have a sickness what can I say over engineer) for torque with a nice Vortech V2 S-Trim to top it off 600rwhp+ was my goal. At those power levels the Aluminator Mahle 4032 alloy pistons weren't going to cut it... So it's mandatory to go with 2618 alloy pistons; MMR has custom 2618 Manley Pistons but also offered Diamond for this shortblock series. I just didn't know any better to spec out pistons w/offset wrist pins (Manley and Diamond offer it) to keep the pistons quiet during cold startups. Now I chose MMR because well their in California about 4hrs (SoCal) away and felt they had a good enough rep to go with...ah but hindsight is 20/20. Other builders out there have a much better rep like Modular Performance which I almost pulled the trigger on but I called MMR first spoke to them for 30-45min about my project and the rest is history.
I can tell you though it is a blast to drive with all the torque and the motor drives like an OE motor quiet while cruising smooth acceleration and will pull and pull and pull and when you hammer it whoa! It hasn't been all smooth projects like this never are. Just tweaking here and there to maximize her potential before FI.
I just need deeper pockets!
Cheers!

Good luck on sorting out the issues. Certainly a good tune will help immensely. Keep us posted on how things are going.
