My wife got one of those oil change coupons in the mail from this place
http://www.girardford.com/
I figured they where trolling for business since the Ford garage in my town went belly up...I was busy and told the wife to go for it and get the battery swapped out with a Motorcraft one while she was there...
WELL I just did an oil change on the Marauder yesterday and pulled this off her....:mad2:am I just being stupid here...i sort of thought it would say Motorcraft on it grrrrhttp://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs151.snc3/17862_1182401839673_1217020431 _444689_605077_n.jpg

The cheapest filter O,Reilly auto parts sales - Parts Master.Fram would be an upgrade and fram is junk.

A long fuse is worse, it leads to a bigger explosion!

Makes you wonder what type of oil was used.

fram is junk.
I don't know why so many people say this. I have been using Fram in all of my vehicles and I have never had a problem. Even with a blower on the Marauder I am still using fram and have had no problems. Just my luck I guess.

FRAM filters aren't "junk", in the sense that they will make your car go boom. The issue is that they are an inferior filter sold for a premium price. IOW there are better-constructed filters for the same or less money, including the factory-recommended Motorcraft.

I'd confront the service manager on it and see what he offers to make things right,if he's an ass about it contact Ford customer service and let them know what dealer and when installed a gyp oil filter in your car and if need be send them a copy of the invoice.
I'm 99 1/2% certain they're supposed to use and install only genuine OEM Ford parts.

I don't think dealers are "required" to buy any particular brand, as long as they warranty it like OEM.
I once bought a fuel filter from a local Ford dealer (now closed) that was in a plain brown box with a simple white label that said "replacement for" FG-986B or "equivalent to" or some such...I don't know why I bought it and couldn't bring myself to use it; it's still on the shelf all these years later. I should cut it open and see what it looks like.

+1, I wonder if they ignored the oil cap, and put anything but 5W20 or if it was even filled to the right level.
The thread is making Jiffy Lube seem like a better alternative to this place, and Jiffy Lube is the second largest reason cars are junked after drunk driving.

I took my MM into the dealer this afternoon to get the oil changed and get it checked over for it's new owner and I spoke to my service writer whose opinions, knowledge and advice I rate highly and he said although Ford would prefer them to use OEM parts there's nothing to stop them from using whomever's parts they want to and if the coupon didn't specifically state they were going to use genuine Ford parts you don't have any recourse,he also said if they used a "gyp" filter they probably threw in some cheap no name oil too.

Thanks Buddy...I was hoping someone was close to an oil change and asked...this certainly gets added to my important questions that need to be asked list....of course the most important one is "WTF is this gonna cost me" but this one is important too...all these years I just assumed...lucky for me only maybe 1 in 20 oil changes gets done by someone other then me...
