Hello people im new here and still getting use to the site so forgive me if this is the wrong place for this.

Im looking to replace the shifter knob on my marauder. The button part broke due to some carelessness from others in car. Does the dealership offer this as a replacement part. If so what would be the part number. Im really hopin I do not have to replace the whole unit. I really dont wanna rely on a junkyard due to the fact that the yards around here are really not up to par on marauders and newer crown vic lx's but if you have an older vic or marquis well they got you covered. Thanks in advance.

I don't remember how to remove the knob, but it's not at all difficult. I swapped my button for a chrome one from a Crown Vic Sport.

I learned how to remove it by asking the question on yahoo answers. Since I wasnt approved for this site yet. Would like to know if there is a part number so I can go to the dealer and say this is what I need. Im wanting to replace the whole handle part not just the button.

Sorry, I don't have the part number. Ford parts counter should be able to look it up for you.

well i went to a pull ur own part yard.....got two handles both frm continentals..both in halfway decent shape..just took two seconds to remove them..only cost me 2bucks to get in..

I think the CV Sport knob is chrome, not sure. The button is chrome, though. That's all I changed on mine.

as in what...replacing the whole knob..or just the button on the side...bc i would love to replace it with what it has..but no one knows if it can just be bought seperate or would you have to buy the whole floor shift assy..if not i need a part number bc the dealership dont know what im talking about..and its easier for me to just go to a junk yard and pull a handle off something else..then deal with the idiots at the dealership..soo again is there a part number...

Yes, there is a part number but I don't have it. Find a dealer with a parts guy who knows his job. Or contact Ray TheDealer on here, he'll find it for you.

ok..and yeah its hard to find someone who knows his job...seems there all like that here in michigan..if you dont know what your talking about or dont have a part number they dont wanna deal with you..its like its a burdon to them or something..

FordNut - I don't remember how to remove the knob, but it's not at all difficult.
To remove the knob / button ... move the shifter forward to (say) neutral.
push-down on the plastic collar under the shifter handle. *It will slide-down, just takes a little effort.
there are two allen-head set screws on the back of the shifter shaft that need to be removed to get the handle off.
slowly lift-up on the handle and keep (say) your thumb on the selector button (so's not to jetison the button and spring. :D)
extend the O/D wire which is tucked-up in the shifter.

cool ....now what about the handle part itself..the part u grip with the palm of ur hand..is there a number for this...and the part is a little more at the dealers here in michigan..

well guys im not to worried bout it...i was givin a part number and it was the whole assy. and im not spendin 450 on it.. i'll just keep looking and thanks for all the responses back. i did get the part number for just the chrome button but im thinking i may get a black one...

Saw the whole setup on E-bay the other nite(T-handle, button and center section (P-123D, indicator) CVLX (chrome even)

Try ordering parts for an overhead console for an '03.

Can't buy individual parts, and retail for the whole unit is over $1,200...

^^Any site(s) in particular you would know of?!?!....only place I know of here that sells High Performance vehicle parts is "Speed Unlimited"

IMO, if you're looking for interior parts, trim pieces, etc., best bet is e-bay or a salvage yard.

^^Oh ok, Ima ask around here first for pics, looking to see if anyone has a Chrome shifter handle...I want a visual first then go from there.

That might be a trick to find, I think they were only offered in the leather wrap. Might be able to strip off the leather, clean up the metal and have it chromed.

Man we need a vender to do a Carbon Fiber package that includes shifter plate, shifter arm, shifter button, dash trim, door trim, and some carbon fiber backed gauges.

well well well...the handle looks exactly like what i just removed from a couple of 98 lincoln continentals at the yard but without the chrome button. which it goes to show that the chrome sleeve is the same..i think imma stick with my black sleeve that i found along with black button...im not a big fan of chrome..
