Got'em in and so far so good. I can really tell the difference when overdrive is off. The RPM's climb fast. :2thumbs: However, I havent really put them to the test quiet yet....only put about 70miles on them. Its taking a lot of self control to not hotdog around.

I dont want to jump to conclusions, but I am already thinking the 4:10 tune may need an little tweeking, but...wont know for sure for another few days. (Have someone in mind if that needs to be done)

The drive home after the install was fine. Just as I was informed, the RPM's were at or around 2600 @ 80-85mph. Before the install, the RPM's w/ 3:55's would be @ 2300. So no major change.

When I posted my questions about the upgrade several months back, my 2 concerns were the RPM's (Living in Southeast New Mexico, lots of open road with several miles between each town, speeds can easly be maintained at 80mph) & the gas mileage. Got great feed back & advise....& even got a little "Jerry Springer" drama on the thread between some members too.... :duel::popcorn: :argue:

Tomorrow afternoon we are heading north to Albuquerque for the New Year weekend to visit some friends. Its about 275 miles up & should be just right for the break-in & to measure the gas mileage??

Hope everyone has a SAFE New Years!!!

Good for you, you will love them. when I installed mine and the first thing I did besides load the tune was test them out:burnout:.

thats awsome, i waited 200 miles, they told me to wait that much if not the was a high chance they can become noisy. till the day i wrecked no whine.
i do agree with the tune you have and depending on driving habits you might need a few thing corrected.

Now when you guys go to 4:10s, are you running the forced-lube tailshaft mod?

Nope, I have seen tailshaft bushing failures on stock vehicles Panthers, E150 and F150. I have everything to make it just never have. If my bushing ever goes out I'll do the forced lube mod.

Go with the metal matrix driveshaft,,, the tranny seal will never be a problem.

I have a balanced drive shaft, forced lube mod, and 4.10's. I love it!
The shakes that happened around 90-95 mph on the oem setup disappeared.
Runs very smooth now.

The only time I had a problem with my tail shaft seal was due to the lube mod and trans pressure turned up via tune at the same time. Once the trans pressure was reduced a little, the very minor leak stopped.

Yea, the balanced driveshaft is definitely next. I was thinking the same thing. Open highway driving for me is 80% of the time. Will look at buying one within the next few weeks.

They work terrific!! The street light to street light performance upgrade was well worth it. Even left my signature on the streets of Albuquerque a few times. :burnout:Driving up to and back, I maintained a speed of 80mph on the interstate for 228 miles, with no issues. Had just a little loss of gas mileage, but only about 2-3 miles a gallon.

Want to thank everyone for their input and advise on this.....

Same here. There is no break in period. Drive it the way you would. That way it will "break in" to your liking.

2-3 mpg was just an estimate...first time I checked was my drive home after buying it back in the summer of 08. It was 24 hwy (24.24). When I checked it this weekend it was 22 hwy (22.16). So more at 2.08 mpg loss.
