Well it was due i guess the stains on the driveway were the firsr clue. Then came noise while cruising at 75. Took it in hoping it was the seal on the rear end. Apparently it was the bearing froze up cut a wear ring in axle. Two hour job HAH! Been in shop since tuesday. Should have it back by Saturday OH the horror . All part of growing up I guess

blew mine riping dounuts noticed it when it felt like i had no back breaks. the rearend oil was leaking out of the driveshaft seal and the axle seals all over the breaks. i was told my year MM had a weak run of axle's had them done under warrenty before it ran out.

Well mine had a groove cut about 1/8 inch that looked like it had been machined in . I suggest getting it looked at quick.
After picking car up on saturday drove to a pre op interview on Monday as i drove home check engine light came on. Went back to the shop coded out to a cyl 8 cop. Funny thing that cop was almost new
bring it in in morning, as I was turning into the shop on Wed Morning the check engine light went out they had told me on Tuesday that they would warrant out the COP even though it was over a year old.
anyway worked on it for over two .5 hours and no charge hard to fix what does not stay broke.
This is at speedy lube in North richland hills been getting all my oil changes including rad flushes and transmisson oil change out there good folks

Just had my right rear axle seal replaced free under the 100K/5 year powertrain warranty.
She will be 5 years old on Sunday so I'm glad I took her in today.

What was the mileage and did you have the Marauder's differential gear oil changed. Many Marauder owners are changing the dif oil to prevent/delay this problem.

SO you say this is an easy fix huh? There are two area's of a car that make me nervous, the trans and the differential... I've messed with old 60 & 70's differentials with C-clips and such, but nothing new like these... Any idea if there is a tutorial or something? Here I was going to pay out the wazzoo to have a shop do it, but you say it's not that hard huh?

never knew differantial fluid could save a baering on thr out board side of seal?
But I did within a year or about 1235 miles have the diff changed out with Mobil 1 with an treatment. OK to be clear here what happened to mine was the drivers side bearing siezed wearing a ring in shaft which caused the fluid to leak. because there was movement the car has about 54443 miles on it at this time
i never said it was easy but it was for me went to the shop said fix it paid the man joe Clancy:beer::beer:

I have grease or some type of fluid leaking down on my brakes and inside my rim. I'm guessing this is the same problem im having you have previously talked about. Do you have info on how to fix this?

Well as noted mine was caused by the bearing siezing wearing a slot in axel.
With car off ground see if there is noticable movement up and down on shaft.
Otherwise it is probably just the seal.
Fix is same remove axel replace bad part/s reinstall. If you catch it early should be cheaper than later. had mine done so may be one of the folks who said it was easy could follow on.
Best of luck

What's a cop? And u were sayin your check engine light came on because of the leaking axle or something else?

That would never happen.

Ok that's what I figured. When the check engine light comes on its either because of the airflow system, failing plugs or wires, or o2 sensors or something. But what is a "cop" that jfclancy was mentioning?

COP= Coil On Plug. Your ignition system.
