View Full Version : Anyone Bagged their Marauder?

I've done a couple of my trucks, but as I'm fixing my smashed MM, I'm really thinking I'd like to bag it. Anyone done it? Wondering if there is any tried and tested bag setups. I always wondered about running stock rears and just taking out the factory solenoids and somehow adapting a larger bore aftermarket piece. Thanks in advance.

None that I know of...a few bagged towncars and cv's I've seen though. Seth from Twisted Minis built a bagged CV with a jag independent rear.

The front is pretty simple. It would do you good to put normal bags in the rear.

What does bagging it mean

What does bagging it mean

It means to install Air suspension in place of the stock springs.

BTW, do these chassis lay on the frame? I've seen a CV with the stock rear suspension busted and it was way down.

Using airbag suspension...similar to hydraulics, but using compressed air. The rear is already "bagged" technically. The goal is to get the car to "lay frame" on the ground usually.

Are all MM air in the rear? I haven't even had mine on a hoist yet.

Yes.

but it's extremely pointless to even consider using the stock system and modifying it.

Anyone ever replace the OEM system with an after market kit from Air Ride Technologies? http://www.ridetech.com/shop/ (http://www.ridetech.com/shop/)

I've actually wanted to do some of those on mine, they just cost so much that I haven't bothered

Air ride tech is extremely expensive...there are much cheaper options out there.

Seth HIGHLY modified that CV to lay out, and you will have to as well. You can cup the front and sleve the back (kinda like they are now) but im unsure how low you can get before the watts and the arms will bind.

Yeah....same with the town car I've seen. I can't remember where I found it now, but that this is nasty. I'll have to search for it

I had to do a double take... I thought it was going to take a really big bag to put a whole Marauder in it.

Thanks for posting. After seeing it, my answer to the OP is "who the heck would want to do this to a Marauder?"

I guess thinking about how my crew dually rides...... I would get a super smooth ride (done properly) and the ability to drop it when parked. I guess you have to love that stuff. Not saying I'm going to. Just asking around because I'm gonna have most of this car apart and back together so now would be the time.

I was thinking of doing it to my car a year ago or so. I called Air Ride Technologies and spoke with a tech there. there is no kit available (at that time) but they said they would work with me to come up with a 'tuner' option. I never did it. I already had enough custom stuff on the car and didnt want one more thing.

But for those who dont think it is worth it....... Think again. There have been demonstrations with professional drivers that drove a car with regular suspension on a performance course, swap to air ride, and drove that same car again. The comments were 100% positive. Plus it facilitates a lower ride height with the ability to raise to go over big speed bumps etc.

That car has some REALLY impressive fab work, he did a whole thread on the buildup of that car...

Theirs another bagged vic on CVN to, on 18" bullitts and he has a custom built turbo kit to... Dont remember the user name, but i believe he made POTM so it wouldnt be hard to find the car....

Wait- found it

Here's his POTM thread

Like what? I'd like to go pretty low with my car. Doesn't have to be on the frame when parked or anything like that. Options would be good :D

Sitting on frame and won't have to worry about anyone stealing your car lol.

There's tons of companies that sell bag parts. Just do a quick google search....stay away from AIM

Hmmm will do, I guess I assumed there wouldn't be much out there that would work well with our double A arm front end. Google at work timez!!!!

Like Matt said, you'll cup the front end. Bag cups in the lower control arms. Suicidedoors.com, airbagparts.com, air ride tech, they all offer bag parts. Most know whats involved and can help you piece a kit together.

I would love to bag my car all the way around. Wouldn't want to go that low (maybe 2" max) but it would be nice to be able to raise it up when I wanted. Like when I have to go over the speed mountains around here or some of the less than perfect roads.

Hmmm, as I start to dis-assemble the car, I see the lower a-arms are aluminum, not an easy double a-arm set up to cup. Might be better off trying to make a shock wave bolt in place. I'll do some measuring and phone call making.

Ditto, I thought he was talking about shrink wrapping the MM like boats for the winter.
