Hey Bob! Easy fix! Mine has been working A-OK since I did that a few months ago. $4.00 fix! Only thing I didn't like was the mailman trying to shove the 10lb Mouser electronics catalog into my mailbox two weeks later. I think the catalog cost a lot more than the parts and they sent two! :D

I just recently removed and then soldered in the new relays on a customer's Volvo LCM recently. And we're a Computer store! :D I do the board level work here so we see all kinds of stuff. (Charged him $59.95/took ten mins!)

did you run the wires thru the air vents on the side? The relay socket I got had such heavy gauge wires on the load side that i actually had to dremel some vents out.

I run my wires out the hole in the side/end nearest the connectors.

Wasn't it just a JOY getting the upper connector off and then wrangling that thing out of there...
of course i'm a man of "some width" so I don't fit under dashes to well hehehehe

:D No air chisel?
I replaced them with standard replacement relays. I have extras and figured they'll last a few years. I can get some extra life outa them by leaving the headlights off at night anyway.

Seems odd at how many panthers have experienced this recently that I know of. Mine has been going for about a month. Got a spare from another MM at my friend's shop that ordered a fresh one. Using the one I got at the moment but it's taking harder hits to get the lights back on over the last couple days.

I got a 40A relay that looks like the one in your pic, I got it from radioshack, it does specify it's automotive, will that work if I use the right gauage wire? I need to fix this soon otherwise I'll have to leave the office before the sun goes down.

I figure the board can only take so many hits from my acetylene torch before I can't get no more OEM relays in there....
