hi guys,

I have met a few of you @ Church of the Doughnut last year and absolutely love the MM. I own a car of a similar caliber (32 valve ZR-1) and absolutely love it.....

Thinking of getting a MM and had a few questions.

How many MM had 32 valve motors? (what years?)
Most MM's were black and few were silver / blue / dark red?

Better to get a 32v or standard motor?

Anything to look out for in puchasing a MM? (looking to get a DD and thought it would be a GREAT car to get!)

Thanks for any info.

To answer a couple of your questions:

All Marauders came with the 32v 4.6.

Production YearColorNumber Produced
2003Black 7,094
2003Silver Birch 417
2003Dark Blue Pearl 328
2004Black 1,236
2004Silver Birch 997
2004Dark Toreador Red 980

TOTAL PRODUCTION BY COLOR
Black 8,330
Silver Birch 1,414
Dark Toreador Red 980
Dark Blue Pearl 328

TOTAL: 11,052

Some soft axle issues on the early 2003 cars, some minor electrical issues on both production years, but all of them are well documented and repairable. Otherwise, the cars are quite reliable. We have a couple guys that are on the far side of 150K miles and they are still running strong.

BTW. love the color of your vette.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I thought I saw a few MM's that had different "cam" covers and could see the 32v on the side? Is that a mod?

I saw that blue MM for sale in Phili and might consider checking it out. (it is BLUE)!!!!

thanks again

David,

Not aware of any aftermarket replacements for cam covers, although we have some guys that have powdercoated, chromed, etc. theirs. Lots of aftermarket stuff available for custom coil covers.

Yeah, blues are rare; if the Philly car is in good shape, go for it! Suggest you get the VIN and send it via PM to RoyLPita, he can run an OASIS report on the car for you.

Keep us posted.

He is referring to Dooms Chrome covers when we used to go up there.

I love your ZR-1. That is my favorite Corvette of all. It is so unique with the LT5 motor. I hope you find a great Blue Marauder to match your ZR-1.

Are they used on the 32v Cobra's? I saw one or two done and I was amazed at the look.

Speaking of the soft axle issue, I had to have the axles and bearings replaced on my car not long after I bought it, under aftermarket warranty at 92k miles. I noticed the axle leaking while getting an oil change. Ford rep said they had issues with the axles being too soft and pitting. I never heard anything more about it until now. I'm wondering if you could elaborate on what went on with this issue back then.

I'm not much help, I'm afraid. IIRC, the soft axle issues related to early 300As, I've got one of the last of '03 300Bs built and the issue was resolved by then.

Weren't the 300A valve covers painted black and the 300B and 04's were left aluminum?

All the valve covers on '03s were black, the '04s are unpainted aluminum.
