While watching the auto show today I got to thinking...
What if Mercury was to get dropped? Similar to Pontiac.
I don't think its gona happen soon but I was wondering if our MM's would rise or fall in value? After 5 years? After 10?
Anyone have any thoughts?
I think we'd see a slight drop in value now but in the next 6-10 years the value would shoot back up to a highpoint.
This also ties in with that thread about how many Marauders are left.... SCARY!!

I'd heard a while back that Mercury was going to be the econo brand, and Ford/Lincoln would get the balance of the product lines.

Money value, your car (and mine) are pretty much worthless. Value to you and me in our souls, priceless. Face it, these things are years out from any collector value.

The cars that are complete oem no paint work will c a huge jump in 10-15 years. Blues will of course bring the most $$$!!! People on here always say oh these cars wont be worth crap and thats true if they are modified in anyway but i believe they will bring some cash in years to come but like i say these are low miles rust and bodywork free cars that have not me changed in anyway!!!!

By 2016 (according to my attrition chart), we will be down to about 1,552 MMs total (about 14.0% of the total). There will still be about 1002 of the '03 MMs on the road (12.8% of '03s) and about 548 of the '04 MMs (17.1% of '04s).
By 2019, this will likely drop to about .... 341 total (about 3%). Just my guess.
Kinda scary that in a mere 6 yrs from now, we'll be down to under 2000 Marauders from 11,052? I wish it was possible to have a 100% accurate number of what MMs are remaining

Yup. How collectible is the Taurus SHO?
I think these cars will fare a little better, not much.

I'm relatively confident that the MM will do ok in value. A hemi cuda, no, but they may do decent years from now. My thinking (opinion) is primarily based on the following:
Last high performance rear wheel vehicle Mercury produced
Relatively low production numbers
They were a truly unique build for their time. As well documented on this forum, the engine, suspension, axle, interior elements, etc., all specific to this car.
I would expect them to perform market-wise like that of a Buick Grand National (though less $$). The correlations between what Buick did with the Regal vs. GN is not unlike the GM vs. MM.

Didn't buy the car as an investment so IF it turns out to be worth something down the road, that's just icing. What I enjoy, beside the flat out fun of driving it, is the exclusivity. It is not a dime-a-dozen deal. That translates into a small number of passionate enthusiasts who happen to enjoy spending time together on line and at meets. In short, it's a great hobby car, (highly moddable) and comes with a cool crowd of owners/admirers. And no matter what else happens, there are only so many to go around. Exclusive trumps investment in my book!:coolman:

I do not believe these calculations will be accurate for a MM. Marauders have a number of them being low mileage cars and cars only run during good weather with time out during the winter. For those reasons the normal attrition does not apply. However, I do not believe they are treasured, as a whole, to the corvette status, where every owner does not drive them in the snow. I know of a couple of Marauders wrecked in the snow or rain.
If you assume 50% are treasured and the other 50% are normal attrition, the numbers left increase. Many speciality cars have 50% left after 10 years. I would not be suprised if the number was doubled to 4,000 Marauders left in 6 years.

Merc has been gone for some time in Canada, only Ford & Linc. You get GMs at the Ford store but no other Mercs available.

As long as my life situation remains above water, I don't care if there is a increase or decrease in value...I'm not selling mines...(maybe for one better than mines).
