I've heard people talk about bad things happening when our trans in over-reved. What actually goes bad when the trans is over-reved?

You're money vanishes.

As far as the car I don't know.

The snap ring that holds the first drum behind the pump inside the transmission comes off. Once that happens parts get loose and rub against other things, etc. Basically a few miles later the transmission will loose some forward gears ratios.

The factory 12" torque converter has a lower rpm limit that the police/HPP 11.25" unit. You can cause failure of a torque converter from over-rev'ing them as well. And if you fail a converter, metal is carried in the fluid to the rest of the trans. Also not good.

I installed a spiral lock to replace the factory snap ring in my Marquis. And I have the tune and valve body adjusted to properly sift w/o flaring in a match to my torque production. The engine is also upgraded and capable of 7k. Even though it's capable of more, I normally shift just under 6k for peak acceleration.

I have lowered shift points, updated valve body orifice sizing and proper tuning to keep the Marauder safe. Eventually I'll install a spiral lock ring in the Marauder as well.

Other thing to keep in your head. Never do a WOT 4-2. That is the largest risk of trans damage. Ease into it, causing a 4-3 and then go WOT.

rut row....(so far so good though).

Do you mean never mash it at 30-40mph? If so, that's gonna 'jam me up'...:D

Just click the 'OD' button on the shifter handle to drop out of 4th, then hammer it!

(I used to do the 4 -> 2 downshifts until I read about our transmissions.)

4-2 downshifts are a big issue at highway speeds, 50+ mph

I don't think you'll have as large of a risk below 40. Still, roll into WOT instead of just hammering it.

Well I guess I am screwed, I never go WOT unless overdrive is off however. My OD belts feel like they are in great shape.
