I am getting my door handles on the Marauder shaved while it is in for paint but I have a question about the key pad for keyless entry. Has anyone removed this before? I have removed them from one of my other cars with no problems but I just wanted to see if it is ok to just unplug/unwire it and not have issues arise such as the stock security etc. Just trying to get everything figured out before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advance. Jason

Why not get it flushed into the door or replace where the door handle was?

Put it in the side mirror.
You're taking away a class exclusive feature, It would look cool if you were to somehow get it flush with the door.

Put it in the side mirror.
Or on the "B" pillar.

You can unplug it but it is integrated with the drivers door module I think so the keyless may or may not work , you may have to just leave it plugged in and put it inside the door.

i would probably put it on the b pillar. you should keep it, it comes in handy if you have a wife (like mine) who constantly locks her keys inside.

good and all, until the battery goes dead, then it will not work either....hopefully the two shall never meet.

I wont have door handles so unlocking the car will no longer be useful. The alarm will both secure and pop the doors so I dont have a need for the key pad.

Is there some type of backup/manuel way to open your vehicle in case the battery goes?

LoL... Okay, but how do you open the door when the handles are shaved off and the keyhole filled, hmmm?

I have shaved door handles on the Grand Marquis and we have a emergency cable release inside the left fender liner. The downside is the car has to be unlocked. Nothing easy about the job! If the battery goes dead you have a problem.

when you turn the key, it pops the latch.
You push the button on the keykess remote or alarm in the correct sequence. It opens the latch and the door has a spring loaded device to push the door open.

Think twice on this. If you are in a wreck, EMS has nothing to open the door with to get you out.

Good point, I heard that in some places this mod is illegal and it won't pass safety inspection and a possible repair order if pulled over by the right cop , I recommend just closing the key holes, thats what I have in mind for my Impala SS since many a**holes like to break into cars this way and avoiding glass shatter.

I just hate that stupid keypad in general. I never use it (although, I really should learn the code for it...just in case). I guess it's taped somewhere under the dash, but it's winter and I'm lazy. So, what's under that thing? How big is the hole it leaves behind? If I ever re-paint, I might remove it if it's small.
