New to the forum and really pumped to have found this awesome website dedicated to the koolest car ever - the MM!

I had heard a few years ago that US auto companies have to manufacture the engine for a car for 10 years after they stopped production. Any idea if this is true? I ask because I really drive mine and it has 84k on it and by 2013 I think it will be ready for a brand new motor. I also wonder if anybody knows ballpark what those motors cost. Thx - Leo.

Welcome aboard fellow Marylander!

Make sure that you join our CAMmer group on this site...Capitol Area
Marauders.

I think that manufacturers are required to make replacement parts for a vehicle for 10 years...I'm not sure if that applies to entire engine assemblies.

Welcome man, there are crate motors that'll work out fine. I like your wheels, what brand are they?

Well, there doesn't seem to be anymore new Marauder specific engines for our MM from Mercury, but there are remanufactured engines from Ford and the aftermarket engine suppliers.

You can buy a short block or a long block in several different configurations. That is, stock type parts or forged internal parts such as crank, rods pistons.

Heads may be purchased seperately with or without performance valves.

Ford Racing catalogue has a wide array of warranted engines or components for our Marauders. You can get a cataloge from your local dealer for $5.20. Don't let them tell you they can't. It is a part and can be ordered. I go through this routine with my dealer every year. But in the end I get my cataloge for $5.20.

Our Vendors here also offer engine replacement/rebuild services I believe.

Prices are according to parts supplied in the engine, The new aluminator 4.6L DOHC long block N/A would be a good choice. P/N M-6007-A46NA. Call the dealer for price.

BYW, 5.4 engines don't quite fit our car without major modifications, a shame.

I don't know...there are some people here who drive their cars pretty hard (Dom), with superchargers to boot. There's one in the 150k range and one over 200k.

Keep the fluids changed regularly, you might be surprised how long the car lasts...

Impala slayer - Ok so I posted some pics of the machine here-->http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3826114/1 (http://lboeckl.net/mm.html)
It is a real gray day here so I didn't go nuts with the shots. I will take some better pics when we get some sunny and its not so freakin cold!

Joe Walsh - would love to join the CAM club. If you could post/send me some instructions - would be happy to join the CAM team.

RR/Suki - The wheels are made by Drag. Here is a link from where I bought them online so you can see what they really look like: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findWheelDetail.do?bp=5-100&yr=2003&pc=22836&counter=1&wd=18&rw=8&vid=008370
I bought them because I had 4 blow outs over the last 5 years and the mochine started handling worse and worse. She drives brand new now - with new tires and rims on her! Like I said - I really drive the car and open her up on the big highways. The fact that she looks like a cop car makes driving her a joy. Everybody just up and dives out of the way as I am blowin through!

Ctrlraven - if you grew up here then you know exactly where I live. I am in the neighborhood just past the firehouse on the left! My old man was a builder so I grew up in DC, VA and MD as we moved everytime we either went broke or needed to sell something he built! So I envy your growing up in one place - it is real nice out here 4SURE!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys - I look forward to meeting you all some day. I have some more pretty dumb questions I will post as well later. Thx, Leo

Ok yep I know where that neighborhood is, my late grandparents had a farm off Old Morgan Station Rd. (near by the Woodbine Shopping center). I moved several times but never found a place better than that area, peaceful and quiet!!

Yeah got to love the "Moses parting the sea" effect the car gives off, I still get it with a cowl hood bulging up front lol.

Need any help with anything just let me know, I'm only 10-15 mins away.

I saw your youtube video and loved the nice low rumble of your car! I realize you must have it supercharged but was wondering if had a header system you recommend to make my MM rumble like yours. I have to be honest - I didn't do much with cars when I was younger - more with computers. But would love to get the rumble in my car when I start her up!

So any recommendations to get the old gurl rumbling when she idles? Thx, Leo.

I wish I had it supercharged!!!

My exhaust is very simple..... it's mostly stock haha. I removed the 2nd set of cats, have a 2.5" custom H-pipe that was connected to Flowmaster Super 40 series mufflers but changed them to Aero Turbine AT2525 series mufflers and the tips are Meg's 3.5" resonator delete tips, the rest of the piping and manifolds are all still stock.

First thing would be to change the mufflers and see how that sounds to you. If you need more replace the tips or remove the 2nd set of cats.

Here is the site I ordered my mufflers from
http://www.ourdealsrock.net/aeroexhaustat2525.aspx

Before doing anything it's always best to listen to an exhaust in person, youtube videos don't show the muscle car drone lol. I need to take my MM out sometime soon cause it's been sitting for over a month, maybe swing by Woodbine and let you listen to it in person sometime when you're free.

Yeah let me know for sure - would be great to meet up with you and hear the sound of your MM mochine! That would be great. Yours would be the very first other MM I had ever seen up close before.

You know there is one other black 03 mm running around these parts (they have the stock chrome rims so a little different than mine). I have seen them on route 94 twice before. That's the only other MM I have ever seen before period that wasn't in a photo!

Just let me know when you are going to be out and about. Thx, Leo.

No it's not. That's an "old wives tale" A company will only make parts for
a car as long as they have sufficient demand. One exception, though, is safety recall
parts.

I know there is a black MM running around Eldersburg, seen it twice and some kids told me they've seen it for years now.

Yeah I'll definitely let you know and if not just come out to our next CAM meeting.

Is there a process to join CAM? If so can you tell me how to join CAM?

Only process I believe is still in effect is for you to come out to one of our CAM meets and everyone gets a turn to do burnouts/donuts in your car while you just stand there and watch, if you shed one tear :bigcry:you're out.

Nope nothing really, just be an active member of CAM meeting functions and we have our own section for the DMV, DE and PA if you have anything to post up that is related to being local.

Thanks I will bookmark and definitely monitor the CAM forum for upcoming events.

Does your muffler system add any additional power to your MM? I ask because it seams like mine hits the wall at around 120mph. I would like to boost it up a little higher so I could get the needle down to the 145 max area someday. But since I drive the car everywhere I also don't want to trash the gas mileage I get either. I get over 20mpg even when pushing the mochine up the road pretty hard. So if I could trade 15% or 20% gas mileage for the same increase in power I would like to see if that solution exists for the MM.

Thx, Leo
