View Full Version : '03 300A & Lincoln Upgrades

Has anyone retrofitted their '03 300B with 300A feature like the remote fuel door?

How about Lincoln stuff? Trunk pull down? Memory seats? Lincoln's mini-donut spare is setup is reportedly behind the wheel well somehow rather than on the package shelf. Could we do this without any serious problem?

Exactly what Lincoln stuff could be "drop-ins" for us?

Don't know about any Lincoln stuff...
But I do know I will replace my 300B
windshield with a 300A as soon
as I can.

I wouldn't touch that power deck lid with a 10' poll IMHO. You're just asking for problems there... As far as the spare, the rear quarters are different than ours, probably bigger, but it could possibly work... I THINK someone around here's done the door release. And as for the memory seat, I'd like to have that, so umm... why don't you get crackin' and then let us know how it's done, eh?

I asked in a post entitled "recontenting" awhile back and didn't get any indication that anyone had finished the conversion to remote fuel door. I checked the wife's 300B and couldn't find any unused connectors around the gas door area. Don't know about inside the door yet. So it looks like some wiring harness mods may be necessary.

Exactly?

Not sure if this is any help--but I looked at an '04 Sliver MM at the Dealer where I got my '03 MM last night and on the sticker sheet it had...".... Model 300A....".

This seemed funny to me since it wasn't an "A" model at all----What gives-?--Could there be some provisions hidden like hidden areas to retrofit some stuff the true "A" has--was wondering---? Has anyone else seen this ?

marauderman:

Actually, they ARE 300As...Job 1 for a given model year is "A"...if they have a Job 2 in 2004, THOSE will be 300Bs...

...except in the Canada, where they're ALL 300eh?...

Hoser!

Heh. Yes, true. I have a "300A" for the 2004 model year.

I don't know if any of the stuff I mention is stuff that anyone has done. I don't even know if it could be.

I do remember when I was looking at SS's in the mid-90's that they were upgrading them with drop-ins from the Roadmasters and Cadillacs. Just wanted to see if we could.

Ahhhh--- I see- I thought "A"'s were until the decontented "B"'s came out and so forth----so the time of year makes the diff---got it!

This is gonna be brough up again you know --others will need to be so informed when they cross this path---reference to 2003 "A"'s and ALL others ARE diff....... hummmm....

marauderman,

I know I've answered the question 2 or 3 times now. It's nice to be able to answer a few now rather than asking them all the time.

If we're "lucky" (unlucky) maybe FORD
can find a few more items to take off
the 2004 Marauder and we will get
another 300B model.
Gotta Love It!

Agent - I purchased the parts from the dealer for less than $ 100. I have yet to install , but it looks like some wiring is required. I have looked at the wire harness and haven't found any extra wires.

I would think that would be a tough one, jgc.

Not having looked at it, I am assuming there is the switch/button in the car door and a wire that must run to the gas cap. Then the actuator at the fuel door.

The fuel door itself either should be worked or replaced to eliminate the thumb catch thing.

Hmmm.

i hear the lincoln's mode button does more then our on/off switch. maybe we can jam some more functionality in there?

I thought Steve said the '04 has its own model number now???

Instead of being a GM with the 300A/B option, the '04 cars are a completely new model number...

Hmmm. I purchased a new fuel door ( Plain, without the catch), door switch/button and the electric door release from the dealer.

If you are doing the fuel door conversion, you need a few more parts to make it go smoother. I got the parts for my 99 CVPI (Crown Vic Police Interceptor) beater and the MM. Did the CV as a test car to make the mistakes on it and not the MM. Had both fuel doors painted. Guess which one came out perfect and which one had the blemish, yup the MM one has to be redone. Can't complain because the paint work is free. I did the CV in a few hours. When I do the MM conversion I am going to take pics and do a tech article. You have to add to the main body harness. The B's have the wiring and connectors deleted. I have all the part numbers already. You can actually have a choice of the all black button like the A's, or a chrome button to match the trunk release button. If the MM gas door comes back from the paint shop soon, I will have it done over the weekend.
Stay tuned.....

That's right Kevin, the '04 Marauders are M79s instead of M75s

Vegas: Can you give us the part number for the chrome button? Also, is tehre a trick to removing the old button (like hhacking off the "wings" that hold it in place?

Chrome switch is # F2AZ-9B242-A , list price is about $7.84. It can be a bit hard on the finger tips to remove, but basically you have to squeeze the wings in while pushing up on the switch. It helps to try to tilt it to one side while pushing up so the wings already pushed in don't snap back out when you try to put the other ones in.
Heres the parts list in advance of the whole article..

Fuel Door Install Parts List:
3W7Z9B242-AA Button (black like factory button)
F2AZ9B242-A (Chrome Button if you prefer to match trunk)
E8EZ14489-DA Electrical connectors (2 required) Same as connectors for under hood light
4 Metal connector pins to fit the above clips (should be dealer stock items)
18 feet of wire (if using wrecking yard parts, try for White with Pink stripe)
2 2 foot sections of black wire (one for each connector end)
1W7Z5427936-AA Inner housing assembly (goes on inside of rear fender over filler neck)
F3AZ5428610-B (Door latch assembly)
2 screws and 2 J-clips to attach latch to housing (These are usually dealer stock items)
1W7Z54405A26-BA Fuel Door-Remote (must be painted body color)
1W7Z5428608-AA Fuel door Retainer (small plastic part attaching to fuel door)
Retainer screw (discontinued) Its just a small metric screw though
(Optional)
Tire Pressure Decal (Special ordered by VIN number, currently obsolete)
Fuel Specification Decal (Special ordered by VIN number, currently obsolete)

Marty, if you are lucky you can just pull up on the switch, maybe wiggle it a little, to get it out, but more than likely you will have to remove the whole door panel first, then do as vegasmarauder describes

I have a small crack in the center of my windshield and I was planning on doing EXACTLY what you're planning. You want the "tinted" windshield, not the one with the "dots," right? Someone here was also on that quest, but I think I recall that he ran into a dead end, and that there was NO "300A" windshield "without 'dots!'" Lemme know if you know something more! Thanks!

vagesmarauder - Thanks. Will be waiting for your post and pictures. Was concerned about the location for the door release mechanism.

Mr. Ignorance checking in here -- what's a "remote fuel door?"

Agent M79
11-06-2003, 08:28 PM
valleyman - press a button, fuel door pops open. In the MM, the remote fuel door button is just behind the trunk release button on the driver side door.

For MMs without, there is a circular blanking plate there since it is not equipped.

Oh. My 300A came with one. I was unaware that it was an option.
Thanks, Agent.

Fuel door standard on the 300A's, deleted on the 300B's. Guess they thought traction control was a fair trade......
