Hey guys just wondering if anyone has installed a PA system in their marauder. After searching i found crappy car pa kits online but i assume there is a cheap way to set one up. If anyone could help me out it would be great! Few main questions are how powerfull of a speaker would be strong enough to be onoxiously loud and is a pa system in a car illegal in anyway?

Thanks in advance

Vinny

Why would you want to do that?

I'd check to see if its legal...
Not sure about the new ones, but the older CB Radios usually had a PA function. Might find one in a yard sale...

I would bet they even have a Forum for it. Something to the effect of, "Loser, wannabe, cannot meet the requirements for law enforcement or military, still live with my parents, so I am going to pretend" Forum...:shake:

I had a friend that had one in his car. He rarely used it, and when he did, he rarely said anything meaningful, and it didn't matter, because no one can understand anything you say anyway.

It would be hilarious for you to go around with a basket telling people to put lotion in it on a PA.

VinnyP, now that you got your warm welcome from us (J/K). All you need is a c.b. radio with a PA port in the back or side. Mount it in the glove box, and mount the PA in the engine compartment. Serious, it's a 20 minute job. Just don't expect us to understand why.

Frogger: Thats how I got locked up last time, count me out! Besides CBT would be dry hummpin my fenders if I tried that.

to answer your question Vinny, most of the police cars that i see around here use the new model 100w Whelen speaker. You should probably use it in conjunction with either a Whelen, Federal Signal, or Sirennet siren. they really dont make anything with more than 100w. You shouldnt need anything more than that anyway. Remember, It's your car...do what you please.

I remember sitting in line in the hotel parking lot in Louisville, waiting for the convoy to start rolling. I hear a loud voice say "CBT! Pull over!" I thought to myself: Are you there, God? It's me, Casey... And then I figured out it was Dom behind me yelling over his PA. I thought it was hysterical!
Then I dry humped bobby's fender.

I have a Whelen HHS2100 in my car, but I'm authorized by the Fire Department to have lights and siren to respond to the fire house. Whelen makes a unit with an airhorn and PA function only. Just remember, Impersonating a Police Officer charges are usually Felonies and very difficult to fight. Not only that, but your car will be siezed as evidence.

I have a high end CB radio peaked and tweaked in both my cars because I travel (in a hurry) so often.

As with any CB, there is an output for a PA on the rear. It outputs at the power of said radio. 1-2 watts works fine. Mine pings around 40watts.
I did eventually mount a small PA speaker up in, and behind my grille. I covered it with a black panty hose legging and it is barely visible.

I use it only on few occations.
I yell at the neighbors dog when it stands in my driveway as I try to exit.
Works for my cats as well lolz.
I have hollered at members while at MV meets.
And on a rare occation...hollered at a pretty girl standing on the corner... :hide:

Here ya go. It is a PA system and air horn WITHOUT!!!! Siren! Might want to disable air horn. Might get you in trouble. Anyway puts out 100w of power. Will need to by speaker as well. They have one for 119.00 on same website. Or go to a radio shack and find a PA system cheaper.

Thanks to everyone who gave me useful feedback. think i found a system for pretty cheap. dont worry this will not be used to impersonating an officer. car shows and occasional stupidities only.
