Hey all,
I spun a bearing on my motor, which led me to buy a new 5.0 stroker motor from modularmustangracing.com. Anyway, seems I'll need an 8 bolt flex plate as opposed to the 6 I had. I don't know jack about flex plates. So any info you think is helpful, feel free to post even if I don't ask specifically. Where is a good place to look? Does anything matter besides bolt count and tooth count? What tooth count do I need?

Ford racing Item # M6375H46 164 tooth 8-bolt made for 96-04 4.6/5.4 2V/3V/4V Engines. Should be about $60 give or take if you shop around. Other brands and higher performance ones are also available. Just Google the part number and you will get a ton of hits of places that stock it.

Did you actually get it? I really hope those are back. I just this week had a customer order one from that same place and they eventually called him back saying they were on "back order". Ran into this problem last year as well. At that time the word was that they were possibly discontinuing the item since Ford had discontinued the 8 bolt small patern flexplate for the 99-00 Mustang, which is exactly what these are.
I definitely hope this isn't still the same 'backorder' from last year.

Great, does that have the smaller bolt pattern that would work for these vehicles?

The issue is that it isn't going to have the smaller torque converter bolt pattern. There are 2 bolt patterns on the converters. No issues on the crank bolt pattern.

He used that flexplate with a stock Marauder converter?

uhhh all i can tell you is it went into a CV with a 4r70. are cv and mm converters different?

Yeah, most of the CV's have the large pattern torque converter. Except for the HPP and the CVPI versions.
That plate will work with a lot of the aftermarket converters but one would need to make sure their converter has the large pattern first. I know it will work with a PI converter because they come with both bolt patterns. It would also work with most of the converters I supply.
My concern is that someone a little less informed might read this thread and think they can use that flexplate with just any converter, particularly a stock Marauder converter which won't work for sure. They would need to make sure that their torque converter has the large bolt pattern if they want to use it. Can't say that enough.
Are you talking to Sal by the way?

Yeah.... they cancelled it. Said it's no longer produced. The engine should be done soon and now I'm back on here looking for a flexplate. Modular Mustang Racing (the guys doing my engine) said they could give me one for $200... thx but no thx.

I went with the MMR 5.0 STROKER Street Mod 850 short block. Having them swap my timing and heads onto it. And still looking to get rid of my short block w/ pistons/heads/crank... (1 bearing spun)
I don't know what MF or SVTP are but I'll google them right now. $90 sounds ok. Any opinions on what I should do for the flex plate bolts?

I think he means Modularfords.com and SVTperformance.com.
NICE. You will like the torque that comes with the extra ci!
