First, let me preface this by admitting that I am an idiot.

I have been known to OCCASSIONALLY smoke.

I noticed that on the upper part of the driver door a cigarette burn mark. DAMN!!

I went to pep boys and bought a vinyl repair kit. Followed the instructions and ended up doing more damage than good - I melted more of the door panel.

Should I order a new door panel fro $360?

OR

I brought it into an upholstery shop and they can upholster the upper part of both doors in grey leather to match the seats. The upholsterer said he could put the double french stitch across it where the panel has the 90% lip.

The leather would cost $250 for both doors and I am up on the fence.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think having stiched leather to match the seats would look excellent! I was thinking of doing the door panel in real carbon fiber over the winter, but leather would ROCK!

*cough*ashtray*cough* :)

Did you try PMing "Jinfla" he's got parts for sale?

I do like your $250.00 solution and it would probably look better than the stock vinyl. It would look good and save you $110.00.

I say anytime you can get leather for less, do it.

If you believe the upholsterer is a true profesional. Do the LEATHER=Unique=Smells so good !!! Then like Sarge said: pictures, we must see. :D :D :D

Yes, if you've seen the upholsterers work and know he can do it well, go for the leather. (will you do the rear doors as well?)

(Then plasticise the receipts and take them out to look at every time you have an urge for an occasional cigarette ;)

I'd go with the leather; I think it would look very 'rich'.

Go with the leather. It would look sweet!

Keep in mind that's a great price. TAF mentioned to me the other day that when he has his leather underwear made it costs him something like $400.00 per pair, but that could have something to do with the amount of leather involved.

Leather trim panels screams "detail", especially front AND rear !
French seams are a neat touch.

Leather "skivies" at $400 per pair must have included french seams, no doubt ???

He had to have leather bloomers to match his mirrored headliner...
