Summit is listing a Magnaflow (pn 16788) cat-back exhaust for '06-'07
Grand Marquis/Crown Vic for $700.
Is there some reason why it would only work on those years?
More important question, would this work on the Marauder?
Anybody tried this?

Don't think anyone has tried it.... you could be the first!

Do a search there was a thread awhile back about a Magnaflow cat cack specific for our MM's but the dyno results netted nothing so they backed out of the production. The restriction on our cars is actually from the headers to the mufflers (4 cats and a 2" h pipe) so a cat back will only give you a change in tone. Our stock cat back is sufficient as is.

I don't understand what the obsession is with mail order cat backs for tons of money when you can have something made for a whole lot less

Locally to me, I have a hard time finding an exhaust shop that does the quality of work I want. Nobody in my area has a mandrel bender, so I would have to settle for crush-bent pipes. Most places around me don't have stainless pipes either. So I would have to settle for crush-bent aluminized pipes which are ugly, restrictive, and don't last. A really nice bolt-on option would be a good way to get around those problems.

I bought my stainless wholesale instead of from the exhaust place. That aside, it's a sad deal not having anywhere that can do some nice exhaust work, I feel for you man.

There are some chassis differences in the later Crown Vics, that is why it is specified for the later year Crown Vics. I installed the Magnaflow system on my '04 Crown Vic. Police Interceptor but took it to a custom shop for installation. It took some "tweaking", but it will work on an '04 panther platform. My exhaust guy tells me the fit would be the same on the Marauder.

Too bad you don't live closer there is an awesome mandrel bending exhaust shop here in MD, I've got a few friends that work there and NATEHAWK has gotten work done by them.

Yeah, I was thinking mainly S.S. replacement & sound not performance anyway. It's always nice to have options.
