My dealer called and gave me the VIN for my 04 MM and a delivery date of 11-24-03!!:D :D

Also got a call today from the ad in the paper for selling my 2000 Crown Vic!! :coolman:

Cannot believe it will work out that the Crown Vic sells and the MM comes at about the same time??

I told the dealer that I would rent a car for a couple of weeks if necessary.

The only downside is the new car is scheduled for an 11-10 build date...I had a "Monday Car" once and it was bad!!:flamer:

Maybe they work better in Ontario on Mondays??

Anyway...Wooo Hooo!!!:D

Soon to be....Marauderjack:cool:

Congrats man! Black right?

I don't think it's the Monday you need to worry about. Tuesday is remembrance day, and if it's anything like Remembrance day at my Legion, don't expect any good work until Thursday after the hangover wears off.

So you'll get a Thursday car!

I think that date they give you is a build "week" and not necessarily a build "day"

Something I just thought of. Does build date mean the day they started, or the day it finished. For the Impala, I think it did take roughly 1 week to build it, so EVERYONE had a monday car... Guess it just means that the stuff that was done monday is going to be the more problematic things...

Reminds me of a little problem most Impalas have, in that one of the exhaust attachement bolts was always lose, from the factory. Turned out that the women that installed that part was too short to put the proper force on it... Get too see all kind of interesting things at the assembly plants.

My 1998 Trans Am took a day to build. I got a call from the plant at 10:00 am saying my car had entered the "paint shop" and by the late afternoon it was sitting outside the plant to begin the 3 week wait until getting shipped to ASC for the GM-subcontracted Ram Air details.

Well,

Rumor has it that as of yesterday it had been built and is the shipping process??

They claim a 11-24-03 delivery and the dealer says they usually get them early!!!:coolman: :D  ;)

I'm ready.....No car as of noon today...except for the Cobra and I can run around town in it but only in nice Wx!!!

Still wonder what handlon's point was???

Cobrajack, i'm waiting for my Silver Birch MM, and this waiting around is so incredibly painful. My vehicle was supposed to be in earlier this week, but they don't know what happened now. They believe that the transport is running behind in getting them the vehicles............

I even took a vacation day off tomarrow so I could take delivery of my car, but it has not yet arrived so i'll have to cancel that.

At one time General Motors was building 29,000 cars and trucks EACH DAY!!!

I hardly think it takes more than a few hours to build any of these new vehicles!!

The longest part in the process is more than likely painting.....Now with the newer UV curable and catalyzed paints that operation is done in a flash as well!!:D

"junehhan"....Maybe they shipped your car to me by mistake???:( Ya gotta love those COMPUTERS!!! :mad2:

I hope you get yours soon and it is everything you hoped it would be!!! That goes for ME as well:cool:

Good Luck,

Thanks Cobrajack........

I just can't wait to get it, so that I can hurry up and break it in(my break in period is 3700 miles) so that I can start going mod crazy on it. I just love cars that you can mod because it add's so much more excitement to it. I'll probably start with a catback exhaust since the factory setup is just way too quiet.

Marauderjack

junehhan....

I've looked around and cannot find a "Cat Back" only system that will bolt up with no welding??:(

Where do you plan to get yours??

Cobrajack:cool:

Hmmm..........you are right :(

I wonder if there is anyone out there that does have a catback exhaust system available. I know some people have taken the Borla system for the Crown Vic's, and made modifications for it fit, but i'm shocked that even Borla doesn't have a system for us.

Your dealer should be able to track pretty much exactly the progress of the shipping of your car.
My dealer gave me a link that allowed me to follow it on the train from MI to OR, and I knew when it had been loaded on the truck headed to the dealer.

My dealer told me they were able to track it to the point where it was loaded onto the truck headed for the dealerships in this region. However, they said that my vehicle was loaded a long time ago and was supposed to arrive on Monday earlier this week. However, it has not come and they said they havn't been able to get in contact with the truck that has my Marauder and are now wondering where the truck went to.

LOL, the dealership has located my vehicle and has garenteed that it will arrive Thursday, which means that i'll be able to pick it up on Friday since i'm having the Valuegard leather, paint, and underbody sealant/protectant stuff put on which requires a day. They told me to come in this Wednesday to take care of the paperwork, so I really can't wait! They finally were able to locate the vehicle at the Ford hub which they don't understand why it was still there when they even showed me the paperwork showing that the vehicle had been shipped out. This is going to be the longest week of my life!

that's odd. Did they not build the Impalas on the assembly line?

hardly think it takes more than a few hours to build any of these new vehicles!!

Ok, did some more research on it...

The B-Body took roughly 24 hours to build. It spent that 24 hours on the assembly line. The factory worked 8 hrs per day and 5 days per week, so it usually took 3 8 hour days to build the car. Of course, it was very rare that a car would start exactly at the beginning of one day, so it usually was finished on the 4th day. So the only cars that were NOT monday cars, were the cars started on teusday, and most of those ended up being completed on friday, which is another, suposedly, bad day. So, not ALL of them were monday cars, but almost all, except for a VERY tiny portion, were either monday or friday cars. Oh, and if you have ever toured an assebly line, you know that it is a VERY long line, so there are quite a few vehicles on it at any given time.

By comparison, the W-Body Impala takes between 16 and 17 hours to produce, and I'm guessing that they do two shifts, as it is a much hotter seller than the B/D body ever was.
