Hello all!

Where to start... I've always been to into Ford cars, I inherited this trait from my dad. I've been the owner of 3 Thunderbirds, of which I absolutely love! Being a bigger guy (6'4" 230lbs), the smaller cars just never did anything for me. I've always been a sucker for a 2 door, so the TBird was right up my alley.

Just shy of a year ago, I sold my 3rd TBird when I joined the US Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator, and I have been training for that since. It's been coming up time for me to get another car because at my next command, I will have to live out in town and commute to work.

I had been looking for another Thunderbird, but they are getting hard to find considering the newest MN12 is 13 years old now (I don't count the retro Bird that came out). I started looking at bigger, yet more contemporary cars, such as the Crown Vic and Dodge Magnum. However, ever since the Marauder came out, I have always wanted one! The problem is that in 2003 when they hit the streets, I was a mere 18 years old and would, of course, not be able to afford such a vehicle.

Even recently when I was passively looking for a Marauder they still seemed out of my price range. So many people are asking outrageous prices for them, so I just figured that I'd have to settle for something else.

My luck changed when I spotted what appeared to be a bank repo at a little mom n pop dealership, who only deals with specialty/high end vehicles. So a few friends and I made the 200 mile drive out to see it, and a couple hours later, I found myself slightly in shock because I was the new owner of a 2004 black Marauder!

I love this car. Period. It's sexy, it's quick, it's loud (Flowmaster mufflers out to the factory tips), it's huge! The 32v makes the 4.6 SOHV in my TBird look like a lawn mower engine. Now, I do know a bit about the workings of this car, as there are many similarities between it and my other Fords, but I am no expert by any means. That means I will probably be harassing you guys about all kinds of crazy things. :)

There are a few things I would like to address about the car right off the bat that I hope someone can point in me in the right direction for:

1. The driver's side front corner light is cracked and needs to be replaced. It looks like any CV/GM corner will fit there with the exception of the blacked out portion exclusive to the MM. I would like to keep the car as factory as possible, so I suppose an MM corner is my option. So a place to look for parts would be helpful, I haven't looked yet.

2. The pod gauges are gone. The housing they go in was gone too, but luckily, the dealership had ordered one and it had gotten there right before I did. (Good thing too, that part is expensive!) So, I need the pods (Coolant temp and oil pressure I believe?) Ebay? Again, haven't checked yet.

3. The front passenger speaker isn't working. I haven't looked at it, but it looks like I have to remove the door panel to get to it? Advice? Ford likes to put easily broken tabs all over the place, and I don't want to break any!

4. Speaking of easily broken tabs, one of the tab things that holds the grille on is broken. While there doesn't seem to be any issue with the grille staying on, it is something I would like to address eventually.

5. Car cover. Yes, I know... Outside. Unfortunately, that is my only option for the next few months. There is no covered parking here on base, so I want to get a cover for when I'm not driving it. I've never owned a car cover, so I'm not sure about what type to get, etc. It seems like any CV/GM one would do, and I don't foresee those being hard to find, but any info of the top of your head is helpful.

I think that's all for now, sorry for the novella, but I really love this car, so I see myself hanging around here a lot. Oh, just a little more about me. I'm 24, originally from Sacramento, CA. I'm currently an E4 in the Navy and stationed in Charleston, SC. Anything else, just ask. :)

Here's a picture of the car. I'm also getting into photography a bit, so you can expect many pictures in the future (especially after I get the chance to properly detail her!)

Sharp car!

As far as the parts are concerned...watch the classifieds here. Or you can check eBay or RockAuto.com, or Tasca Ford, or PM "TheDealer" here as he works at a Ford dealer.

When I bought my car, I had to replace the taillight lenses as they were tinted wayyyyyy too dark by the previous owner. I got mine from ABS Auto Supply (http://www.absautosupply.com) here in Cleveland. They are not OE lenses but nobody has noticed yet. Maybe they can ship you the parts affordably.

I hate that crap... It's rampant here in SC too, especially with Crown Vics. I haven't seen any other Marauders in this area, I don't think I talked to you either? I could be losing it though, this school has that effect.

Oh really? I'm going to have to cruise the lot then, I've never seen anything around here. Considering how many nerds and Fast and the Flamer wannabe's there are around here, I'm surprised there is another one here on base.

This thing definitely turns heads though. Not too many people expect a cop car look-a-like to sound like that. :D

Ebay is probably your cheapest option and the MM corner lamps are different from it's relatives

Oem is a non operation oil presser gauges and a volt gauge that is functional. You could install any gauges you want. If you want an Oem look with different gauges autometer made the originals units for ford.

3. The front passenger speaker isn't working. I haven't looked at it, but it looks like I have to remove the door panel to get to it? Advice? Ford likes to put easily broken tabs all over the place, and I don't want to break any! the only problematic trim piece to remove is were the window and door lock switches are carefully lift up from the back not the frt and pull back. There is a L shaped tab at the frt that will brake if the frt is pulled up.

4. Speaking of easily broken tabs, one of the tab things that holds the grille on is broken. While there doesn't seem to be any issue with the grille staying on, it is something I would like to address eventually. Again Ebay has them painted in black

5. I store my car for the winter and use the Covercraft Noah Car Cover. It fits tight and works good

So I heard this interesting noise yesterday from the car, and since I'm still all noobified here, I think I can get away with a noob question.

I started the car to back it further into a parking spot, so the car was only on for a few seconds and I shut it off. After I shut it off, I heard what sounded like an air compressor, well, compressing air. At first I thought I had only farted, but after careful detection of no aromas in the air, I concluded that the car did it.

Today I heard it again after I started the car, and pinpointed it even while the car was running because I have now heard the sound. It can never hide again.

So, what is it? Something to do with air suspension (that I know absolutely nothing about)? If I had to guess, it was near the front on the driver's side.

Speaking of this air stuff, I noticed the off switch in the trunk. Do you only shut it off for jacking the car up (off?), or would this make a difference while driving?

So I ordered a front corner from Ebay, should be here in soon. That's pretty much it for the exterior. Although, whoever detailed it last left some nasty swirl marks in the paint, I'm going to have to work on that. My orbital buffer is in storage in CA, so I'm either going to have to get another one or figure something out.

I looked at a few car covers on Ebay, there seems to be some decent Crown Vic ones for around $50. Does that seem like a good price for a car cover?

I went to this link for the pod gauges. I see there are two different kinds, anyone have experience with both? It seems like the difference is cosmetic, but it's hard to tell what it would actually look like just from the picture.

I'm going to pull the passenger door panel off this weekend and see what's up with that speaker. Hopefully it's just unplugged or something. Does anyone know off hand what size speakers are in the front and back? I may look into some after market options, as well as a head unit.

Also, as a small site suggestion, I suggest more commonly asked questions perhaps be added to a FAQ or put into a stickied thread somewhere. My TBird forum has a number of stickies for stuff like that, it would be handy here. My searching skills are decent, but I've had to sift through a lot of junk for a few things that seemed too simple to ask. I can elaborate on that more if people are interested.

I think that's all for now! :D

Were was the picture taken?

In front of Citadel Mall Theater in Charleston. I was actually approached by the on duty police officer and theater manager because they were wondering why I had a tripod set up outside of the theater taking pictures of it. They were nice about it and everything, but it seemed a little odd, as I don't see what anyone could possibly gain maliciously by taking pictures of the front of the building. Oh well.

So, in regard to other business. I popped the passenger door panel off (after a few minutes of messing with it before I figured out that you need to lift straight up then off) and sure enough, the speaker had simply become unplugged. It looks like all 4 speakers are after market, and provide a decent sound. I still plan on adding a sub in the future. I do love easy fixes though.

Speaking of easy fixes, I figured changing one of the dome lights that is out would be easy, but I can't get the ****in clear plastic piece that covers them off. Is there some trick to this without breaking the stupid thing? I messed with it for half an hour and I couldn't figure it out. The clear plastic is considerably larger than the spot it is in, so I'm a bit stumped. Help?

All that is really left is the driver's front corner light (which should be here soon), and the pod gauges. Oh, and the grille, but that isn't really obvious, so I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet.

Hopefully we'll have a decent stretch of good weather soon so I can properly detail her. The swirl marks all over the place irritate me because: 1. They look bad, and 2. It looks like I did it (since it's my car), which makes it look like I don't know how to wax a car. Unsat.

I've turned this thread into my MM mini blog. :D

There is one screw in the back, closest to the windshield. I got it off of there, just had to yank hard. On top of that, it looks like I have to unscrew the bracket that holds the bulbs in just to get to them. What a pain...

I did change out the cracked corner lamp, as well as all of the turn signal bulbs (amber and clear).

The only things I really have left are the missing pod gauges and the grille. Other than that, the car is in tip top shape!

I've gotten a lot of compliments on it so far, it's definitely a crowd pleaser!

I'm glad you like the night shot. The only thing I don't like about it is that the whole car isn't in the shot. I had to be quick though because it was super busy and I had to dart out into traffic, set up the tripod, shoot, then run back out, so I didn't get to take the time I wanted setting up the shot.
