Normally, after warming up, my MM idles at 700 RPM. This morning after driving to work, I put the car in Park, and expected it to idle down to 700 like normal. It stayed up around 1100. I figured the throttle cable might be stuck, so I hit the gas quickly a couple of times to see if it would unstick. No change. First time this has happened. Any ideas?

Were you running the defroster to reduce interior humidity at the time? That seems to be the normal idle rpm when running the a/c compressor.

No accessories running except the radio. I generally shut off AC or other things before I shut off the engine.

It could have been in second and not in drive , that would cause some weird tach readings and car motion, i did that once.

Well, I went into the office for about 45 minutes, then left for an appointment. Cranked the engine and let it sit for a minute. It stayed at about 800 RPM, a little higher than usual, but definitely lower than the the 1100 I couldn't get rid of earlier. Got where I was going, stayed a couple of hours, got in the car to drive back to the office, and it was at about 750 when I cranked it. All of these readings in Park, no accessories except the radio on. Looks like this is one of those "If it doesn't happen again, don't worry about it" things.
