Has anyone ever attempted this before?
245/45/18 on the front?

Yup. It works. Ran 245/45's on all four corners on my car for over a year. However, if you have traction control, and you're running the same size tires in all four corners, you'll have to shut off the T/C each time you drive the car, or the T/C will kick in and you'll go nowhere, fast.

Just curious, are you considering going to the same size tires all the way around to allow rotation and extend tire life? Rotation will help some, but in the long run you still won't get crap for wear out of the OEM BFGs.
