ok,.. I just had a crap scared out of me! (almost literally!)I was at a 4 way intersection making a left turn, I got the arrow and started to turn when my a$$ end shot out from behind me, sending me into a spin! OK,.. it had just started raining, but it was very light, and I didn't give it a lot of pedal.

I managed to counter steer out of it,.. mostly... I hit the median, but as near as I could tell I didn't cause any damage! Most of the damage was to my ego, :( I felt like a dumba$$! good thing I was close to home, I wasn't about to stop to check my car. People would've pointed and laughed and perhaps they may have thrown things at me!

Anyway,.. would some Eibach springs help to reduce to likelihood of that happening again? Lower center of gravity and all?

No, lightning up on the Go-Fast pedal will help that.

 I didn't give her much gas at all. I was doing less than 15 mph when the rear end started sliding.

on hills and where you have to give vehicles more gas cars will leak more oil...when it starts to rain it will float the oil to the top and this can make for a very slick road...torsional twist created by turning and acceleration can all add up to looking out your side window to see where you are going...springs...????

Petrograde: I agree with preacher, the conditions he described are very similar to driving on ice, and just maybe the air pressure in your rear tires might be a tad high, I don't think is a suspension problem.

Yea, what they said. It hasn't rained around here in over three weeks, Petro, and there's a bunch of oil that needs washing away. Be careful!

hmmm,... thanks guys,.. you're right Dean, it was the first rain we've seen in a while.

I was wondering if lowering the the center of gravity would give me a bit more traction..

If only one person says yes, then I have a "legitimate"reason to get some Eibachs,.. otherwise my wife may not go for it!

Springs won't affect wet traction much, especially under 20 MPH.

I did that on my motorcycle once, embarrassing as he(ck).

Use second gear lockout in wet/icy conditions when you start and all is well.

That is, unless you floor it ;<)

retraction of previous post...(cough cough)...yes the new springs will all but eliminate wet weather skids...(cough)...will improve gas mileage by about 3 miles to the gallon...with this alone you will have a return on your investment within 55,000 miles...(cough)...and have at a 25 lb slimming effect on anyone in or within 15' of the car...(cough)...

Lowering springs will make the traction worse from a stop. They will not let the weight transfer to the rear like the stock setup will. They will help you in the corners though but in the rain your traction is only as good as the tires.

As far as your wife knows HECK YES you need new front springs to help prevent you looking like an @%% while turning left in the rain from a dead stop on an oily/wet turn lane!

Without a dought if you don't do this within days of opening your presents on Christmas mourning you could look like a fool 2-3 times a day if it's raining!

Keep me in mind when I try to talk my wife into a new converter just for the extra durability they privide!

Petro, I did almost the same thing in Irving. It was so long since rain that the road was like ice. I only got a quarter around & let up on a "normal" start at the light. People riding with me were impressed. Not fun. I think we need to watch it this winter.

Tom...Tell her "SergntMac said so, I have to buy them."

When she balks, show her any pic of BigDogJim from Ennis, and say "He's wearing an eye patch now, and he wants to move here"

Then go order your springs...

May as well order your Reinhart supercharger kit too, while you have the "wifey credit" enabled...
