I have an xcal 3 with a lideo tune and i was wondering if i can install this marauder performance chip also or not? 50 more horses sounds good. http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Mercury/Marauder/

First of all a chip does the exact same thing as a tuner, only it is far easier to fail, you can't run both, a tuner is far better than a chip unless you want to change something on the fly. again chips can go bad shake loose or corode over time, and if you take it out or install it with the key on you have fried it and your EEC.

Sorry Batmann, busy day today, ^what Dennis said. One or the other but not both. And that 50 H.P. would be dependent on many other performance parts prior to installing the chip.

You are far better off keeping what you have.

I think he wants to hook them up in series:

Performance chip @ 25 hp + xCal tune @25 hp = 50 hp gain.

Like Bob said. Nope.

Choose one or another, but not both. Use the tuner. It is more advanced than the chip.

^^^^^ What Dennis and Brian said ^^^^^ tuner is the way to go.

Yes they sell them at the Dairy Queen, there called DREAM CYCLES, all joking aside we all know it does not work that way, and no matter what you use you will not get a 50RWHP gain with either just a chip or a tuner.
But the guy is just asking and that is what we are here for to help not bust his chops, I did spill my watter reading it though.:banana2:

I hear ya Dennis, just couldn't resist giving him a little jab. ;)

I actually asked a similar question way back when, took me a while to figure out the whole chip/tuner thing.

IIRC, you were the guy that set me straight...

Looking more into it, It connects before the IAT sensor to trick the car into its cold settings. This particular one is adjustable!!

Its still useless Ebay garbage that I wouldn't dare use on my car. :bs:
