Crown vic transmisson question

Are all of the Crown Vic, p71 transmissions 4r70w's ? and are they interchangable 1995 - 2009 ? I.E. will a transmission from a 2007 P71 fit into my 1999 P71 (including the electronics)

Check over at crownvic.net,they have many stickies about what fits what and diy's for Crown Vics over there.

Physically it will fit. The issue is going to be with the ring gear having the wrong number of 'holes' causing the OSS to give the computer info that is off by a factor of 4 times. That won't work for the info the car needs to properly shift unless you get a tune to account for that difference. It will act totally stupid otherwise and be completely undriveable.

Using the example that you noted .....

FIT - Yes.

WORK - Not without alot of mod's. *PCM, wiring, VSS, etc., etc., etc..

Reason: Beginning in 2006 the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis got the 4R75W.
