 First let me thank the club members who have had a problem like mine with the wipers only running on high and got back to me. Since I posted that thread a week or so ago I have an additional situation. When I was driving through a driving rain storm yesterday in New Jersey it happened. The wipers continued working only on high and every so often the windshield washer went on by itself and started spraying the windshield. When I shut the wipers off the washer motor shuts off too. Is this by any chance also part of the problem with the windshield wiper motor and moisture issue some of the members have encountered ? Was wondering if anyone encountered this and what the cure might be.

Do a search for "wacky wiper". A lot of us have had bizarre things happen.

yeah these are all normal wacky wiper occurrences, the washer often gets involved

Yup, had the exact same problem. I even had the washer start up on its own, kept running until it pumped the reservoir dry.

Actually a fairly simple fix you can do by yourself if you've got a decent set of hand tools. Check out:
