Warmed up both cars and took them each for a ride... Wanted to end the year with a burned rubber smell, and a smile. And to compare suspension mods on Silver side by side to black. Wow!
Both back safe in garage by 5pm/dark.
Still smiling about the drives though. Happy New Year!

You'll love it. I've had mine a couple of years now but only use it when needed as I don't have any insulation.
I was also running it without a thermostat the first two years and let me tell you it gets HOT! Seriously, it nothing to hit 85* when it's only 10* outside. [emoji6]

I actually came across three commercial hanging furnaces by pure luck in a building that had already began demo and the area they were in was scheduled for the next morning. I was capping off existing water lines and sanitary and noticed them. Seeing as how the entire building contents are turned over to the demolition crew I went straight to the foreman and asked about them. He says which one? I said all... He said $50 each and I got too wrenching!
All of them were functioning. One was dated 30 years old and tiny - craigslist sold $150, 2nd unit 10 years old 100,000 BTU in pristine condition - kept it for home. 3rd THREE MONTH OLD 120,000 BTU Lennox (too damn big) craigslist fire sold $450...
80' gas pipe and fittings from basement to under deck, under ground for 10', and pipe'd to the unit in the garage FREE from another demo a month prior. Only purchase was a $30 thermostat and the two leader pipes in and out of the ground $150.
Win.

Damn! I think my single is only 2K! But with the 170* stat she always seems to stay below the halfway mark.
Only once she started to creep up higher than I'd like. It was 95* or so and I let it idle with the A/C as a test. It stayed good for at least 15 min, then slowly started to raise.
Yours won't be capable of running hot LOL.

From Reische Perfoormance website.
"Additional Cooling System Improvements
It is important that the fan settings in your tune are set up properly to see the best possible heat dissipation from your cooling system. Otherwise a low temp thermostat will only be effective when the vehicle is moving because heat cannot be removed unless there is air passing through the radiator. Typically with our 170° thermostat installed your cooling fan(s) should be set to turn on between 184-190° and shut off between 176-182°, if not then re-flash your tune with the appropriate settings.
Water transfers heat more effectively than antifreeze so we recommend using the lowest concentration of antifreeze possible for your climate along with a product like Redline Water Wetter. Just make sure you have enough antifreeze in your coolant to keep it from freezing in the winter and always run no less than 20% in a street car. We do not recommend adding Water Wetter to coolant that is more than 40% antifreeze."

Beautiful clear sunny day here in the Texas hill country...temp 67 right now...so the wife and I took the DTR garage queen (23,000 miles) out on the country roads (paved of course) and drove out and about for an hour or so.
Were it not for the surging type engine "issue" when stopped the car recently has developed, it would have been a fantastic drive. I guess I will have to look into that engine problem soon enough...but I was able to put 'The Colonel' through his paces and blow it out some.
Great fun and time well spent.

Joe told me it was darn tasty roofies.
I didnt do anything to my MM, but I did check out a transmission repair shop in town as reference against future need. This shop was recommended to me by the shop foreman at the Sheriff's garage.
The tranny repair shop looked like a hole in the wall junk yard, housed in an old converted gas station. Wouldn't have given it a second look.
However it came highly recommended. The police and sheriff's department use it exclusively and when I asked about returns the respective service departments said the repaired tranny's never had to be returned.
I said, "well, I've never seen a police/sheriff car there". The foremen said "we remove the transmissions ourselves and only send them the transmissions". Ah!
So, I visited the shop and was impressed with their knowledge and the questions they asked me about how I service my tranny. The owner/manager said that based on my usage and maintenance schedule I should have no problems with the transmission. He even identified, correctly, the type transmission used in the 04 Marauder as a 4R75W.
I came away feeling this shop was competent and trustworthy. Can't judge a book by it's cover, eh.

I installed the new headlamp harness I got from GoldPanther in my MM. Next I'm going to do the same thing on my Crowne Vic. These harnesses are beautifully made and made to last. I recommend them highly. Combined with a new lamp control module I really have a very reliable belt and suspenders solution. The idea of losing my headlights on a back country Indiana road, as happened with the crappy harness that came with my HIDs is pretty scary.

Got to drive her fast today!
Took the wife and daughter out prom dress shopping. (and stopped by the stereo shop to get my new rear speakers) Took too long farting around at Applebee's during supper and had to make an ~85 to 90 mph blast down the highway to get home in time for "Crinimal Minds". (Only to find it wasn't even on this week for some stupid reason, &@^%$!) Got stuck behind two 18 wheelers when one slow truck was passing a very slow truck... in a string of trucks from the movie "Convoy".
I saw a gap where I could zig-zag to the other lane, pass, and get back over if I got on it. Took the chance. By the time I went around this one rig we went from 60 to 90, and it was effortless! I love this car!
Now watch me get a damn ticket soon, after not having one in 15 years.

Knock on WOOD!

Uncovered, let idle while I cleaned windshield, and waxed hood and trunk. Took SB to muffler shop where I had an appointment to have the RES DEL MEGS installed, only to find the "old man" muffler expert had called in sick. The owner and son offered to do it, but was worried "that we was shorthanded..." I joked that I wanted them BOTH to do it together-father and son.
So, I opted to wait till next Tuesday.
Gave me a chance to "take a lap" and enjoy the new suspension parts. Chirped effortlessly at light, again over hump at intersection, and across the intersection on the cross walk paint, had never done that before.
Can't wait untill next Tuesday!
Can't wait to finally drive the car--thinking about a Vegas Run in it March 24-28, and maybe even stopping in to see Mike - Big Boss Applesauce.

Today: I replaced the rear axle seals and for some reason the driver's side axle has too much end play. The right side is good. Does anyone else have this problem? Installed 8oz of Motorcraft friction modifier and just under 2 quarts of 80/90 wt gear oil. No leaks so far.
I also installed new brake pads and hardware front and rear. Cleaned inside of wheels.
Washed it. Test drove it and everything seemed fine.
My next task is to locate the rattle in the undercarriage and repair/or replace it.

How do you know it has too much end play? Did you measure it? Could be the "C" clips are worn.
Ford revised the spec for the gear oil to 70W140.

Actually, these things were done in the last couple of weeks.
Cleaned the throttle body (took it off) and played with lighter return springs until I got it just perfect. The throttle is just right, now.
Took the car to XXX Performance in Pensacola and got the differential completely overhauled with bearings, axles, clutches, ring & pinion, etc.. Sorry Marty, just too far to drive with my buggered up leg. After twisting wrenches as an avid hobbyist for 46 of my years, it is always such a rare pleasure to find someone that is mechanically sharp as a tack, honest, professional and courteous to do the work I no longer care to do. The rear is super quiet now (the backlash was set perfectly) and the added bonus of fixing a problem I had yet to home in on. There was a roughness in the drivetrain through the seats that is gone now. He believes it was in the ring gear because the axle bearings weren't really bad.
It drove home like a brand new car. :):):)

After the blend door actuator didn't fix the constant heat issue, I had to replace the actual blend door. Not too bad, about 3 hours, had to drop the dash - 6 bolts & 2 screws, remove the blend door actuator - 3 screws, cut open the bottom of the HVAC box - had to remove the passenger side seat for more room - too much pasta.......
Works perfectly. New door has an aluminum socket so it shouldn't happen ever again.

Started the Marauder up after it has been sitting for well over 3 months.
I was extremely shocked it started up on the first turn of the key without needing a jump or battery being charged. After about 45-60 seconds the idle smoothed out and just purred. Oh how I have missed that sweet sounding exhaust.
I did have to kill 3 large ass spiders who must of been calling the MM home for a while, one was inside the cabin and the other two were in the engine bay.

The new back tires worked out so well, I took in it yesterday to get the fronts changed. The fronts were almost new Eagle Gt-s but bounced until they warmed up and made the steering very touchy at speed. With the four new tires and the second tank of Techron smoothing out the fuel system, this car is becoming an absolute pleasure to drive. I've found myself taking it everywhere now.
Took my wife's car (I used to think it was comfortable) in to fill the tank up yesterday. I couldn't wait to get back into the MM.
Also, got the factory replacement fog lights in. The originals were clouded up.

Tried to contact them, not available. Both of those are "Ford" parts. The one I found has the Mercury waterfall logo on it by the part number so I went for it. Hell, after seeing what a damn set of Marauder floor mats, and head lights go for, I just figured that these things are limited enough that pretty much anything Marauder specific is gonna cost.

Honestly slickster, I could cut the time down a "bit," but there is no way one can replace both bulbs on factory gauges in under an hour considering how careful one has to be w/ removing the gauge pod bracket, backing off the bolts holding the gauges in place for access to the bulbs using a deep well socket, transferring the blue bulb rubber "condoms" to the replacement bulbs and finally reversing the process, all at the same time ensuring one does not damage any of the surrounding trim.

That job can be done in 10 to 15 minutes.
Frankly the hardest part is pulling the pod out...... you can do it with your eyes closed... 10 minutes tops.
