Today, I did the brakes. Hating Ford brakes - I have owned several Fords and they always skimp on the brakes - I tried a budget upgrade on my stock DTR. Here's what I did:

StopTech front rotors, slotted (appear to be well made but they are from China)
StopTech 09 pads all around
Painted the stock calipers all around
SS braided lines, 4 corners, from the forum contributor TCE

It will be a while before I know how all this turned out. Painting the calipers is nice but the castings are so rough that it won't win any prizes. It does look much better than stock.

Was going to go with Hawk pads but saved sizeable bucks on the StopTechs. Time will tell whether I was penny wise and pound foolish.

Break-in is the issue. Either you have to find a deserted road and perform a bunch of controlled stops (hard to do in Houston) or drive like Grandpa for 500 miles. Either way, I'll have to let everybody know how it comes out.

Compression test, low 200's on the right side and mostly low 200's on the left side with the exception of 5 & 8 which were around 180-190. Changed out what I can only assume were 120k mile spark plugs while doing so. What a difference.

It's simple, really. I have 2 children aged 4 and 2. Both are in front facing car seats. I realized that the way the seats are latched into the car they will ruin/damage the leather and deform the foam over time. So I went to the wrecker's yesterday and found a set of poverty seats that weren't trashed and put them in. This way once the kids are old enough not to need the seats, I'll put the original ones back. For now they will be stored away.

It's funny the vinyl is close enough of a match that most people wouldn't notice anyways.

I do not have kids Sully008, thus the idea of swapping out my MM rear seats for something more "disposable" never crossed my mind! You sure know how to go the extra length to keep your MM as best as you can and for that  !

I wrecked the car over a year ago, got it rebuilt. The rear end sits about 3/4 inch to the passenger side. Also the driver side is sitting lower than the passenger side a little bit. Need to get it looked at because it's bothering the "F" outta Me.

Noticed a trans leak in the F-150 on the way home from work yesterday. It turned out to be the trans cooler inlet fitting where the line plugs into broke due to the lower trans cooler bracket bolt rusting out and the cooler just laying on the trim below where it's normally mounted. Grateful the local Ford parts desk was open today and had the fitting in stock! Also glad I work less then a mile from home...Was impressed how far of a trail five quarts of trans fluid can make. Under $50.00 and not much of the day wasted we're all back to normal.

Thank u. My cobra is very good condition with 116 k miles. So that is considered high for a cobra although mods were professionally done including solid axel, pulleys, exhaust tires and tune. It's at the 500 rwh range. I want to convert to auto due to medical condition, trade for a maurader or sell it !!!have it on craigs list for 2003 north jersey asking 19.5

Modifying crossmember (basically cutting top of the crossmember so that mount can sit at the bottom), fabricating a bracket (really just welding three pieces together and drilling some holes in it) that allows the stock trans mount to work with the 6R and the modified crossmember, new drive shaft, harness, PBH shift lever and no, I won’t be using a stock MM motor.

Didn't he have to move is his engine back slightly so his oil pan could clear, which would make mine and his measurements slightly off from his. With all that being said I called them anyways and they recommended that I give them my own measurements. At least when I do it people who decide to go this after me will have the correct measurements for our cars and can just bypass the measuring part and just order their driveshaft. I think I remember him saying his measurements where 5' 5" exact. Which means mine should be a slightly longer than this.

I just might, but it would only be when I have most of the parts needed in my garage.

Hopefully this weekend, I could remove the trans crossmember, take out the 4R70 and bolt on the 6R and get the needed measurements but from what I have read the 03 and up crossmembers are a real pain to take down, anyone have any tips

Hopefully this weekend, I could remove the trans crossmember, take out the 4R70 and bolt on the 6R and get the needed measurements but from what I have read the 03 and up crossmembers are a real pain to take down, anyone have any tips

I laugh every time I hear of "the struggle"..

This is similar to what I carry in my work van and will have the crossmember laying on the ground in under 10 seconds. You will need to have decent ground clearance however. Seriously this is NOT a difficult task when done correctly with big boy tools.

What Bob said, get it in the air. There is a gap on each side near the end of the member, the the bar can move each side a small amount at a time till it's free, and spray it with wd40 where it's wedged in at, there's sand and dirt in there that if washes out helps.

I have the MM 20" off the floor. Took my 4' crow bar & hooked the end edge of CM were outboard bolt goes thru, grabbed bar & lifted. It moved right away and I said WOW, that was easy! Then got down & looked and found the little piece that houses the 2 bolts had popped out (it is held in with only 2 tiny welds on 1 end so leverage bent it out and broke the welds) and the actual CM was still in place. What ever idiot moron engineer at FOMOCO that designed this abortion set-up for a CM needs to be taken out back & shot! Then I stuck the bar in to the now large hole in CM, jumped on bar 3 times and the CM was on the floor.

My friendly Ford parts guru ordered me a new CM matching the best on-line price I could find and I'm good to go. He was flabbergasted when he actually saw the part at the completely retarded design!

Why didn't you just tack weld the ends back on?

Because I ovaled the CM bouncing on it with crowbar.

I care about the car too much to beat it back in shape & hack it up to reuse.

Replacement was cheap enough I said F it and bought it.

Going to custom fab it so it will come apart easily for future the way the dip$h! ts at Ford should have done to start with.

Finally sold it 3 months ago after 510000 km. Was a fantastic car, dependable, powerful enough (after some mods), lots of driving fun in winter and quite rare in Quebec.

Installed the METCO bars and put a full set of new GoodRich summer tires. Car has now 27000 km.

My Lincoln Town Car Designer
Just received the HYPERTECH chip and the AFE air filter Stage 2. Put a full set of new PACER 18" wheels together with adapted KUMHO tires. Got a new set of PIRELLI Scorpions (studded) on the 17" factory wheels that will be installed before winter.

Over the past 2 months;
Had hood, roof and trunk lid repainted. Came out excellent.
Had the door moldings reattached and repainted.
Replaced rear window tint. Lost the rear defrost in the process.

MM looks great.

Note: pics don't show anything.

Then the a/c went out on the wife's car. We drop it off and 5 minutes latter the a/c Compressor locks up on the MM. Waited 2.5 hours for a wrecked and over 18 people asked if I needed help.

The driver recognized me from a tow 9 years ago!

Had the compressor and condenser replaced.

I was stopped in a Lowes parking lot. A guy in a minibike stops by to chat.

I see a guy get dropped off who appears to be a bum. He tells me I need a jump. I tell him a wrecker is on the way. He then grabs each battery terminal and tries to twist them.

I yell at him "DO NOT TOUCH THE CAR". He steps back and says whats wrong with the car is it's foreign built. I reply it was made in Canada! He walks away.

Speaking from a LEO perspective, intimidation or the possibility of feeling threatened, generally gets LE involved when not needed and there are better things the local PD can be doing that getting involved in a situation a person created by open carrying a firearm.

The poster handled it with verbal commands, as opposed to getting potentially jammed up with an open carry situation, laws vary from state to state.

Anyone know am I limited to the Kooks set up - which I'm fine with or are there other systems that would work? Meaning maybe only the Kooks cats connect to the headers and other's won't be a direct fit.

I did some work to go ZFG trilogy the last couple weeks: rebuilt the rear axle assembly, replaced the CHE control arm and watts link bushings, replaced the rear KYB garbage shocks with Monroe severe service rear shocks, replaced the rear sway bar bushings, replaced the rear Nitto Motivos, replaced rear rotors and pads, replaced the front pads, and added set of resonators after the mufflers to kill the drone and quite the car down a little bit.

It's due for inspection this week, only 22,000 miles since last October.

Put the stock tune back in the SB to prepare for state inspection. Took it for a quick jaunt. I'm still amazed in the difference between it and the Mo's tune, night and day! Cleaned the glass and aired up the tires in both cars to 35lbs. Need to do the spares tomorrow as I forgot about them.

Noted the volts gauge on SB is reading about 13.6-7 or so at idle and about 13.9 under load, no appliances on. Installed a new alternator in the Spring and noted the numbers there as well. Seems to me the old numbers read around 14.2-3 all the time unless the A/C compressor came on then it would budge. I believe I got the correct alternator w/ 4G regulator(white plug on the regulator, if memory serves) and the connections seem clean. Will a GM alternator w/ a GM regulator work on a Marauder? Wouldn't put it past Ford to try and supersede parts. Just wondering if the part is wrong would that give the lower numbers or is a GM alternator a completely different animal?

Through trial and error I’ve learned over the years dealing with rubber hoses and clamps it’s usually user error , hose & clamp sizes play a big role. If your having to over tighten the clamps to where it’s damaging the hose then you probably need a smaller diameter hose. Most fuel pump kilts comes with the wrong clamps I guess
