ok im having a problem right now i was coming from arundel mills and noticed the temp gauge was running hot. as i went down the road it went back down but soon as i came to a light right back to top right below the red. i pulled into a gas station and turned it off for bout 30 mins then back on. it cooled down somewhat while i was rolling but once again, at the stop light before my house shot back up. What do i do? Its dark outside so i cant see too much and no garage to put it in. I saw a thread saying it could be a number of things. i noticed that the last turns into my driveway i pushed the gas and there wasnt a lot of response. which is highly unusual. Sign of bad trans? Blown rear? Leaky trans? i dont know. Anybody got some suggestions? and oh yeah its bout to snow so quick responses please
part two found a flashlight went outside checked the car theres a ton of air in the crossover the entire coolant reservoir is empty some on the ground some on the hoses some on the the black cyldiner thing behind the radiator i dont know what its called. in the morning imm pour some more coolant in to see where its leaking from. so peeved

Looks like a leak somewhere. I'd fill with water and check to see where it leaks, fix the leak drain and refill with 50% antifreeze and water mixture.

+1 Looks like you gotta leak in the cooling system.

the PCM went into safe mode from running it so hot, cutting power so as to not do any more damage.

Thanks for your help guys i'll have to wait to tommorow to find out where its coming fro,. mother nature dropped 4 inches of snow on us this morning. Do you think i should just replace all the hoses up front?

Used distilled water with your antifreeze!

find out where its leaking from first..it could be just a bad hose clamp?

When is the last time you serviced the cooling system - if ever?
Buy prestone 50/50 mix, get a new Tstat, a new EMP water pump, all new coolant.
Let all air out of system using top round plug in the metal crossover pipe.
Check for leaks. Reset the PCM.

Firstly, I think the guy is getting confused.. It is possible that the coolant may have evaporated to the point that an air bubble was created.. Therefore, the first thing to do is get it out and then observe.
You have to get the nose of the car way up, you can't simply fill the system thru the crossover tube at the fitting. The higher you get this b itch in the air, the better off you are. I suggest draining the system out, flushing it, then replace the antifreeze mix. I use Honda Blue, its about 16 bucks a gallon but its awesome stuff. Never gets funky and its in all of my cars.
Once the system is clean, then get the nose up like you are climbing a wall and fill the system. Let it run to temp with the overflow topped off as it is running, never let it run empty. (You can crack the bleed port to get air out of there as well and initially fill it from this point)
Dont jump to conclusions that other stuff is wrong. My neighbor had some trouble with his vehicle, ran low, air bubble and overheating ensued.. Flush, fill, nose in the air, and some other proprietary filling techniques and he was back on the road with NO leaks.. There is this funny thing called evaporation, it does happen and is not necessarily a leak of any kind.. I am not saying you don't have a leak, but the system must be filled properly before you can make an assessment..

If your serious....
Water pump is the behind the big round pulley under the alternator.
Thermostat housing is attached to the lower radiator hose close to the oil filter and power steering pump.

I wish i could lie to you right now but i didnt know that about this car never had to mess with any of that. looks like replacing the water pump might be a difficult thing to do. thermostat looks a a bit easier. still gotta find the leak first. I put it up as high as i coujld and ran it filled it and have seen anything so maybe that fixed it. we shall see as the days god by.

The water pump was out and back in in under an hour - very easy to change/replace!
