How are your Marauders doing in the rust department, especially in the salty areas of the country?
Mine has a little spot at the top of the windshield. I thought that was it. Much to my horror, I recently found some on the bottom, inside of the drivers door and the bottom inside of the drivers side rear door which I sc***** off, primed and sprayed black. Can't see it unless you get on your hands and knees. I can't find any rust on the other doors or anywhere else on the car. The bottom of the car is typically all crusty, but not rusty. Not too bad really, since we use salt like crazy in the Chicago area.

Ours isn't to bad. Like you a bit on the inside door panels and a spot on the hood where there was a rock chip. Under the car looks good for 6 full winters in NJ.

I want to get undercoating, but worry it won't stick at this point.

I've got a little bit at the bottom of the doors (inside only), nothing else. Frame and all that stuff is remarkably clean...especially considering it was a daily driver from its '02 production all the way until December '08, and saw Illinois and Ohio winter.

Mine is also a daily driver. A salesman owned it. Highway miles. This is hands down the best car I have ever owned. My '72 Olds Cutlass S with a 350 Rocket motor, 4 barrel and bucket seats is a very close second though! If it had the Marauders' handling, it would probably be first.

Undersides of the doors are rusting... Other than that, it is holding up surprisingly well!

That's one of the really great things about living in the South. Rust is not a problem down here.

The newer polyurethane paints hold up better than the old lacquers & enamels.
And newer steel seems less rust prone than the older stuff.
Still, nothing is perfect.
Keep it clean, inspect it often, and do spot repairs as required.

Rust? None that I know of, came to me from California, don't drive it when there's salt on the road.

No rust for my marauder as it sits in the garage but any vehicle we drive in the winter gets cleaned every week and its important to keep door shuts and any seams clean and waxed and the underside clean and clear. I have never had a car with rust problems and we keep cars 10+ years. Keeping them garaged helps a lot too

You and I and a couple others only have it on the bottom of the driver's side doors. What gives with THAT!?

Most cars have small drain holes on the bottom of the doors that can get plugged. Might want to check these every now and then....

Most older cars actually rust from the inside out because the insides of the panels only get primered. Everything looks fine, by the time you see pinholes on the lower fenders or rockers, it's too late. The inside of the trunk is actually a fairly good indicator of what the rust situation is. Peel back the lining & look way down in the bottom behind the wheel wells. Also, the bottom of the doors, because some water gets in them. If those areas are in good condition then usually you're pretty good.

But why the drivers side and not the passenger side doors? Wierd!

Maybe because the driver's window is rolled up & down alot more than other windows & the weatherstrip doesn't seal as well.

The rubber by the windows has had bubbles for years. Under all of that is rust that I have never seen.

Another reason I sold my black MM was that the back drivers door had rust cancer BAD and paint was starting to come off. The paint on that car was CRAP.
