First the LCM, now the FRPS (best guess), now a bad ignition key! I go to leave my mother's house with Melanie and the kids and no crank. I even tried to jump the starter, crank no start:mad:. Borrow mom's Corsica to run the family home and grab my wifes keyring thats she never seems to carry on her:mad: Drive back, fire the junk up and head home. When is this gonna end? I figure what, another $60.00 labor, $20-$30 parts over a stupid key??? Starting to feel like a hooptie.. When is summer gonna get here?:depress: Better yet, can I paaalease get my job back? End rant, I just had to blow some steam...

Thanks Jake. Yup, bad or unprogrammed chip. I've heard of this a few times around here. never found out the cause though?? I've used the same key since I picked her up in 04.

I have a 97 Town Car that does not require PATS. Do you have more than 2 keys? If you do, the replacement key will be a piece of cake to program.

Can't you get aftermarket or junkyard?
a_d_a_m

Can't you get aftermarket? They don't exist in the aftermarket. Trust me, I've been scouring. A case of Red Dog to whoever can prove me wrong!
Can't you get junkyard? The problem is, I need ball joints. You can't replace 'just' the LBJ's on the car, you have to replace the LCA. For that, I'd rather not buy a "used" part with a questionable history.

Wow, didn't know that. Sure is a lot of highpowered Magnum SRT/8's around here, you would think they would have stiffer rears installed? Have you looked up SRT/8 RCA? Or joined a forum for guidance?

So are you saying buying a 3d key now is worth the extra hassle of something like this going wrong and THEN having to get it reprogrammed?

Yes, definately learn by my mistake.
Why don't you just pass your magic wand over the car and send all of your troubles away http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs166.snc3/19353_1366250118972_1313240272 _1018218_3379749_s.jpg
