Hey guys, I just did the chat with Steve Babbcock, the Program Manager for the Mercury Marauder, at Edmunds.com. I got the first question, and I asked about the 0-60 times. He says different Mags use different methods of calculation. He said they use the NHRA Method of measurement, and we can expect times in the high 6's new and mid 6's with 5000 Miles (ie.. Broken in). He said the Car that Car and Driver used was green with few miles on it. Hence, the horrible review. I also asked if there would be any FMC sponsored parts like the God's Head, other performance parts available, and he said yes. He said they have a full accessory catalog ready to go, and they will be posting it to their website soon. The chat was really informative and I asked the questions that I think you all might have wanted to know. ...And Johnny is right, we do get the leather jacket!!!

I found the chat interesting. The frustrating part was that Steve was only able to answer one question at a time and the moderator spent
more time trying to throttle the new users instead of uploading the
questions. The great part was that I learned a bunch of stuff about
the Marauder that I didn't even think of. Hat's off to Steve for
spending his time that way. Thanks

I'm not surprised at the times, Most reviews are done on low mileage cars, and you guys know as much as anyone that a motor loosens up considerably after 3-5000 miles on 'er...

I just wonder how, once people start adding performance parts to it, how they'll keep the rear tires from baking off. There's NO room back there for anything much larger than is already there.... :(

It started innocently enough,...

I was just scrolling the the Community Discussion page.

When I read that thread, I laughed. Then I realized how far we've come with these cars. :D

Unfortunately, those horrible reviews most likely turned off many potential buyers.

Ran across a user at another forum I frequent who quoted the Car and Driver article chapter and verse and was convinced that the MM is much slower than a Honda Accord.

Guess it's a good thing we test drove one with 18k miles on it already. Wife was test driving, I was in the front passenger seat. She floored it doing about 30 mph, I got mashed back hard into the seat cushion. I think my face deformed a little from the G force too. :)
