I have recently noticed that when I start my car on a ?cold start? blue smoke, comes out of the exhaust. The blue smoke is brief and lasts no more than 2 or 3 seconds
this is a first time that happen to me?
Thank everyone

It means you own a Marauder. Whether people are man enough to admit it or not, the 2003's all start smoking at some point in time (mine started doing it around 35 k miles). It's annoying but unless you are willing to throw a ton of money at the heads, you're gonna have to live with it. The smoke is from oil burning from the first couple seconds when you start the car.

It's not a problem, unless it continues for a long time after start up. Mine has been doing in since before 9K miles. Never had any problems because of it, and head work is so expensive that it just isn't worth massing with.

Mine poofs out for not even a second after the car has sat for weeks on time, not too bad for almost 140k miles on it.

Land of Lincoln. Are they still reading by fireplace light? SEARCH is located by pressing the SEARCH button ^ right up there in the nav bar. Try it sometime. When you have figured it out show it to Meathead. I bet it costs a lot of money to archive all the info there. Coverage of most of the questions asked here have been posted extensively since late 2002. That is eight F'n years. There is nothing new. Dennis:mad2:

There are so many useless threads in the archives that it makes the search function almost useless because any given word will bring up a million irrelavent topics.

Don't necessarily agree. You can focus your search by Forum, so that will eliminate a lot of stuff. Also, if you search by thread rather than by post, that helps, too.
Actually, though, for a number of the questions that noobs have, stickies have been created so you don't even have to seach, just check out the relevant Forum. Seems that's too hard for some of them, though.

This is true. I haven't tried the thread vs. post option, that may be where my lack of success has been in the past, I'd have search results generated by something someone had in their sig.
The funny thing is I feel like I'm on the bottom of the ladder when it comes to this stuff, whenever I ask what I guess are stupid questions, I don't even get ridiculed, so I can't tell if people don't think I'm an idiot and just don't want to answer my questions sometimes, or if they don't even equate me to noob status. :-P

Your's is a 04. Thats why.
I have over 67k miles and not a hint of blue smoke. Early build 03 as well.

Mine's done it since '03. Don't worry about it. If you see no smoke, that means your oil pan is empty.

I was thinking more along the lines of Highway Star myself.
Nobody's gonna catch my 'raud,
gonna break the speed of sound

I've had my car do it every time I go to start it up after sitting for days on end or weeks at a time.

Some have it ..... some don't. I wouldn't worry about it if it is only a puff every once in awhile. Has only happened to me on 1 or 2 occasions in more than 6 years of ownership ... generally after a quick start-up and shutdown to just move the car in the driveway.
I seem to recall some very early threads (2004 vintage) that mentioned that MMs that switched over to full synthetic oil before completing 5,000-10,000 miles on the blend were more prone to the blue smoke issue. Or maybe this was just speculation at the time.

Yes. Our computers are powered by fire, which is started by coal just like your computer. Good job smart guy.

Its the SEALS. Try Auto-Rx to clean and recondition them. Then: no more smoke on start
