It seems like the tire I want is this size. My only concern is theyt are too narrow since everyone that has anything this size has 295/55/18s, not 45. Will this be okay?
I am looking at the first ones on the list.

who is running a 295/55/18? Either way the 55 is the height ratio, not the width, so technically both 295/45 and 295/55 should be the same width.
295/45/18 is closer to the right size

I thought Adam/Cleveland and Fastblackmerc had this size/sizes on their stock rims. Fastblackmerc was talking about getting wider rims AFTER upgradding from the size I mentioned.
So wither the size I mentioned will fit on a rim that isn't widened remains a mystery to me. On the link it says the rim needs to be widened.
Anyone know for sure?

Actually, I have those tires on stock non-widened wheels. I keep them at 40lbs and will get them again.

Great! Sounds like it'll be just fine. Thank you Brian.

I'm running 295/55/18 Hankooks on stock rims. I"m looking at getting the correct size Hankooks to run on my widened rims.

Then it's clear. Two are typing from experience that this size will work on a stock rim. The link was from 2006. Thanks for all of the info though, from everyone.

Should be OK on Stock Width
235
245
255
Questionable on Stock Width
265
Requires Widened Rims
275
285
295
305
Anything higher will require wider than 9.5"
^Yeah, that's incorrect, though it was posted a few years ago.
Me and Tony (trash) are both running 285/50/18's on stock rims.
I also think Reinhart is either running 285's, or he might actually be running 295's.

Look at the specs from the tire manufacturer. It will specify min and max rim widths. Different brands of tires in the exact same numerical size sometimes specify different rim widths. If you mount the tires on a rim that is outside the manufacturer's recommendations you risk problems and accept the liabilities if it causes an accident, damage, injury, death, etc.

I ran 285/50/18's on factory wheels on my 03' but decided not to do it again for 2 reasons. #1. the sidewall flex was HUGE. I never realized it till I drove my 04 with stock tires. #2. Because the contact patch was FUBAR'd and makes the inside of the tire wear ALOT faster.
Is it safe? Hell yeah. I auto-x'd over 30 runs with em like that. But width dosn't always mean better traction if the wheel won't allow it to contact.
We have a 285 on a 10.5" wheel on our Cobra and holy hell. With the right wheel that tire is a steam roller!
