I think dennis still does email, but not sure. Otherwise you need to source a local tuner. Considering your from Alberta, If I were you I would get a local shop considering the differences in altitude and temps to get the most out of it.

well... Diablo, Hypertech, aswell as SCt all claim on their web site's that the preloaded tune is good for 20ish rwhp and 20ish rwTQ, that's what dennis's and Liado's claim to have... how are the preloaded tunes?

That's what I got from Dennis in 2008 and was very pleased! This was the start of my expensive "hobby":D. The only problem we ran into is that he put in for 4.10 gears and I had 3.55. He emailed me the correct tune and all was good from there. Good luck with your decision.

Best thing to do is get a dyno tune done from a good shop.
Then you know what the MM is doing .EH

EH? whats that? something American? lol I can think of better things to do with 700 bucks other than getting a dyno tune. most preloaded tunes are close enough. out here the altitude changes between 6000 feet in the mountians and 1000 feet in drumheller, so I dont think a dyno tune would be worth it when the custom preloaded tunes are pretty good. I hear alot of good things about Liado tune. but because i'm not american he dont wana sell to me...EH, so I guess I can trash that Idea. maybe i'll give dennis a call. or maybe get Zack's tune.

Hypothetically speaking, I would contact Zack.

Lideo, the owner of Alternative Automotive won't sell you a preloaded tuner because your Canadian?

That doesn't sound right, are you sure it's that he won't sell you a tune separate from the flasher?

I think that's been his policy for a while, regardless of what side the border your on.

ok, lets say I was to just buy a tuner, and do some data loging on my laptop, which would be a better tuner to do that with the xcal 2 or 3?

Since you seem to be an expert at age 24 maybe you should buy a "sniper tuner" and show us how its done.....eh

depends on who you wanna get your tunes from. Zack deals with xcal2 and most have moved to xcal3. I have xcal3 and like it....... eh

I was reading on Alternative Automotive's web site and with his tune you can turn te alt off at WOT, is this feature just available with his custom tune or is that a standard feature of the xcal2 or 3? sounds neat. also if I was to just buy a xcal3 with whatever preloaded tunes it comes with is it really worth it? or is getting a custom tune like the Zack tune a must? you see up here in canada... Eh.. were kinda behind on the times and dont have as many options as our neibours to the south so I am forced to ask all these stupid questions. I wish I could just buy a Alternative Automotive tune and be done with it but I cant. the preformance shops around here will cost you a arm and a leg to get anything done on a dyno, I can get my hands on a xcal 2 or 3 for 400 bucks... I know sounds expensive but thats the cheapest I could find one here in edmonton. most shops are charging 600 bucks for the same thing. so lets just say I bought one from up here, and just used it out of the box. what can I expect?

You can buy an X3 with Alternative Auto's tune from Innovative Interceptors, a vendor on this site! http://www.innovativeinterceptors.com/mm.html

If your car is close to stock, then that's probably the easiest and best way to go.

He just doesn't email tunes for your Xwhatever is all. I don't think he has an issue selling you a new xcal with his tunes however, or maybe even mailing him your Xcal for him to load, piracy thing is all. Call him, and work something out.

Honestly, when I was buying my tuner about a year ago the price wasn't much different from buying a regular xCal3 and buying one from Alternative Auto with a 3.55 and 4.10 tune. I don't see a reason to NOT buy one from a vendor on the site, because not only do your get their tunes, you get the ones preloaded on the unit that you'd normally get anyway. In my mind, it was like I was buying a dyno tune for like $15 on top of the original cost of the unit, can't hardly beat that.

I just bought an X cal 3 from Dennis Reinhart. Call and see if he will ship to Canada. Surely someone can. He will email tunes after you make more upgrades as well.
