Which limited-slip diff would you pick for the best-performing all around unit in a non-drag raced daily driver?

I'm pretty happy with the stock unit from Ford. I race my a bit, and it lasted 170K miles before it failed.

If I had it to do over again, I'd go with a Detroit Locker.

The FRPP LSD with Cobra clutches is a very good diff for daily driving and track use. Its for 31 spline axles so an upgrade will be required.

FRPP LSD (https://ssl111.webhosting.optonline.ne t/spartaperformance.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?cPath=13_21&products_id=204)

If you're interested PM me and I'll get you a price on axles too.

Not necessarily. I got my 28 spline trac-lok from Reinhart with the new (carbon fiber) cobra clutches.

I always thought the Torsen T2-R differential was very good. Never drove one but would like to try it out one day. Not really great for drags...

I'm putting an Auburn Pro Series in mine tomorrow just cause I had it laying around. Always heard good things about them so I guess I will see. Putting 4:10's, JLT, and DR xcal 3 on all at once so hopefully it will spin the tires and I can give some feedback!

The Auburn, is suppose to be the best LSD, do to it's inner engineering, when it senses sideways movement it will unlock, to prevent breakage, this would be my choice, remember you said non- drag race DD.

My OEM LSD currently has almost 212 K miles on it and still works fine!! :burn:

We rebuilt the rear at 177K miles and checked the clutches...still met OEM specs so they were not replaced!!:shake:

I don't race or do burnouts so the 28 spline OEM unit is fine for me!!:bows:

I'm still rocking the Ford LSD. When my rear was rebuilt I used cobra clutches and stacked a couple extra clutches/plates.. pretty responsive..

Now I wish my old winter beater GM wasn't turning into a one wheel wonder.. but at 170k I guess I can't complain too bad..

If your spider gears are still good in your stock unit just replace the clutch pak with the FRPP cobra clutch pak and call it a day.

My spider gears were a little banged up but still good but not enough for 4.10 gear use so I bought a new FRPP 28-spline diff and will upgrade the clutch pak in it and just throw that in when the 4.10s get installed. I'll rebuild my factory unit and hold on to it just in case someone needs a quick spare or a GM/CV owner wants to upgrade theirs.

Thanks all.

Yes, this is definitely a non-racer DD, so lockers are out of the question. I have read & heard good things about Detroit Tru Trac and also Auburn. Interesting.......

Rebuild the LSD with the FRPP HD Cobra rebuild kit which includes the super F150 SHD "S" spring and HD Kelvar clutches. "S" spring is very difficult to get in, but worth it. I'm on my 3rd LSD rebuild and it looks good so far. Make sure you soak the clutches for 2-3 hours.

3rd rebuild? That doesn't make it sound all that great if you are on number 3.

The 3rd time I went with the FRPP HD LSD Cobra rebuild kit. The other two were just Ford rebuilds - nothing special.

if it hurts your stomach, it must have a small amount of strychnine in it.

OMG :puke: What's lysergic acid 25 anyways??? :D

The F150 "S" spring tends to put more preload on the clutches and will wear them out faster (minor detail)

Did I mention Torsen T2-R (http://www.torsen.com/products/T-2R.htm)
