As most of us know a 300B MM has the crappy decontented rear decking over the speakers! A cat my wife swears it was not hers! got in the MM and clawed at the rear cover shelving just above the speaker :( i was ticked to say the least but with out no video surveillance i can not convict said cat! So my local dealer ordered me a new one under warranty :D and the one i am getting is the 300A style with the covers gotta love it! As I always say it all works out for Mosley!

Not a bad trade-off for an unfortunate incident, the cat was probably trying to remove the package foam material over the sub-woofer......he, he. :D

You should see gray foam under the package tray that has been cut to the shape of the subwoofer. Remove it; trust me; your subwoofer will sound much better and clearer without any vibration.

only the foam over the sub-woofer needs to be removed. Foam between the rear tray cover and the shelf itself is OK

Absolutely! Don't remove any of the gray foam other than what is over the subwoofer.

RCSignal & Animal- as to the removal of the cutout foam over the subwoofer , I removed it as per previous threads before , but what I found was that the subwoofer sounded as if was popping out of the box . It seems as the factory amp was somehow overdriving the subwoofer as you cranked it up . I placed the Foam back and the Foam cut down the popping vibration . Has anyone on the page tried this ?

I think that the subwoofer will move naturally up and down; the more bass, the more movement. Did you note a difference in the quality of the sound without the insulation? If it was better leave the insulation off and don't worry about the movement. That would be normal.

Yes, please tell me more. Just bought mine last week and already taken back to dealer to investigate what sounded like a blown rear speaker. They said to turn down the bass and I said "duh!" but it still sounds blown and should make that vibration with typical rock music.

USN Lifer - since you have one without the speaker grills, you do not have a fix that is quite as simple. Under the cover for the package tray is foam. This foam also covers the subwoofer and seems to be the source of the rumble. I found that the foam was already precut to the exact shape of the subwoofer. It's as if they intended to cut it out but never finished. You need to remove this gray foam over the subwoofer.

Check with Glenn as he just replaced his rear speakers. Also Agent79(sp??) has done it and he also removed the foam. Basically, you have to remove the rear seat.

Review the Speaker installation dicussion near the top of the Garage forum.
