View Full Version : Replacing Motor
Speed

After an unforeseen (threw a rod) event, I will have to replace my motor. I have been searching diligently have pretty much narrow down my choices to buying a cobra short block from MMR, the link provided below, or maybe from a member. I'm kind of weary of buying used from someone rather than a business. Just wondering what I should be looking for in good used motor/block. All feedback is welcomed. Thanks

Last members experience from MMR wasn't so great IMHO. No build sheet. No Dyno was given to customer - even though they claim to do this for *every* engine.
I'd look to livernois motorsport - or just get the FRPP Aluminator.

How did it happen?
Ford factory rebuild Cobra long block would be the best way to go.

I wish I knew that is yet to be determined but in the meanwhile the Cobra route is pretty much where I'm heading.

How much UNTUNED power is the question?
I know things, even if I was away for a while!

Supercharger (Yes)???? + rpms (crusing @60-70mph ) = well we know (it should't but did)
Either way you got to pay if you want to play, but I feel I'm wise enough to know when its time quit and move on.
ah who cares how it blew up, ill be on the lookout for you speed.

Very true. First stop after putting on a blower should be the dyno. With a good tuner.

Don't check, just pm me the phone number. You don't want this, as a matter of fact, no-one does. I'll take one for the team and buy it so no-one else will have to deal with this misery.

Complete means Longblock Marc.

It's a used long block that had a Procharger f1 on it. Could be a good deal.

Talk to Nate about his Aluminator engine before you close a deal on a Cobra. He has Rick's MM with a new Aluminator engine.

The block excess has is a custom built block. Lots of goodies. And it is just a short block at 9.25:1. It is still in long block form with b heads for 5k.
Whatever you do DON'T PUT A JUNKYARD MOTOR IN IT!!!

2200 delivered back in 06
Well around here junkyard motors are over $3000!
No delivery included!
Would make sense to get the aluminator if the price is about the same.
Not trying to step on anybody's toes but it only makes sense.
Go with the built motor and dont look back.
