As I become more familiar with the Eaton set up it seems as though the intercooler is obstructing boosted air. I was wondering if anyone has ever left out the intercooler and just installed a very efficent heat exchanger ?

The act of compressing air(boost) causes the heat, do you mean if you were to use a air to air intercooler, you would only be cooling the already cool air. It would still be heated by the supercharger. Then there would be no intercooler in the intake to cool the boosted air resulting in detonation and a knock knock boom

As far as I know there isn't any other option for the heat exchanger under the blower. Leaving it out would be a disaster, the IAT temps would be extremely high.

The heat exchanger can't do it's job without the intercooler

No need to change the intercooler IMHO. 8+ years making sickk HP with the stocker, no need to re-invent the wheel.

Yes agreed!!plus you can't place a bigger intercooler under the blower there's only so much room to play with unless you make up spacers for the blower to sit on ? plus no one makes abigger one anyways.

there is some room to grow but not much. look at the link he posted, they sell bigger ones.

why dont they show them side by side and have comparisions against the two this would help sell them, Only guys running 3.4 wipples would require them, how many are at this stage of the game.

a few maybe.

if you look at what Zack wrote and what i agreed with is that it isnt necessary for any of those. Zack is makning over 700 to the tire with his 3.4 and using the stock IC

Interesting... I didn't know about these. No job, so no new upgrades for awhile...

Dammit Zack, you're already helping me spend money I don't have! :burnout:

From what I gathered from Stephan at Volocity said is it's in the gasket that makes the big dif. But knowing what little I understand is to just not try to recreate the wheel.

I'm not so sure about that. My IAT temps are pretty low, especially compared to an Eaton running high boost.

yes maybe lower as that you have a more efficent blower than the eaton but have you compared the two, IAT temps on the dyno are different, when your in real world conditions, my IAT temps on the dyno were way different from when at the top of the track.

With these Velocity Turbo Systems you can expect 20% Boost Gains, 10% Weight reductions, aluminum tig welded construction, and the latest in cooling technology. All units are designed by Velocity and produced in exclusive partnership with Griffin Thermal Products.

This what the after market company claims to expect but does't have any supporting data to back it up, with comparisions.showing there product and the stocker.

Agreed.

Leave well enough alone, the stocker is just fine!
