Just got some routine maintenance done today. First mistake, didn't turn the air suspension switch off before they put my MM on the lift....I honestly did not remember. Work is done the car's riding smooth except the fact my traction control keeps blinking when I hit 40mph/2000rpm and I can't accelerate. When I turn the swith off everything's just fine but I love my TC, I was eating the snow up during the Blizzard. I turned off the air suspension switch then back on hoping it would reset but I assume there is no connection between the two. What do I have to do?!?! Is there a reset switch or do I have to take it to a dealership:( and get it reset!?!?

Somebody rotated the tires. Has nothing to do with the air suspension.

it will level its self out, might take a few days for the bags to weep enough air out.

i was under the impression he did the work himself.

I ordered tires and got them put on plus a rotation done. Also and alignment was done.

that was for you question of the ride height. i assume since you jacked it up its prolly over inflated now right? is so just do like i said and you will be fine. did you rotate the tires? because like fordnut said that will screw up the TC. the ride height has nothing to do with TC

Yes my tires were rotated.

Perhaps you didn't know the tires are bigger on the rear and if they rotate them it will throw the TC computer off. Make sure the tires are in the correct locations and then everything should be OK. No need then to drive with the TC off.

ImpalaSlayer

Yes my tires were rotated.

switch them back, your rears are larger then the fronts and the TC does not like this. you can not rotate the tires on an MM for this very reason

^^Tires are all the same size, now anyways!! at first the fronts were different but the rear tires were always the same. I had the rear tires placed in the front and the two new tires placed in the rear.

did you just change this? if so you cant do this or the TC will do exactly what its doing.

What don't you understand? :shake:

You have traction control.

Your rear tires MUST be 3% bigger in diameter than your front tires or the traction control will complain.

BIGGER tires on the rear.

Smaller tires on the front.

If the tries are the same size you need to replace 2 of them with a bigger size and install them on the REAR.

^^Oh snap:bigcry:wow....that just blew my day. Did not know that. Now that makes thing more complicated. Now I have to get smaller tires for the front. Ok, thanks for the help fellaz!!

Usually the fronts are easier to get.

Just have to turn the T/C off now before you start driving. I did that for a while when I had all the same size around on before I got larger rears put on.

Not smaller fronts but larger rears as in taller.

What size tires did you get?

I believe he mentioned earlier that he put the rear size on all around. So yes, he needs smaller fronts.

Yep, that would be my first guess. Go out and check the tires. Big ones 245/55/18 go on the back. Smaller ones 235/50/18 up front.

Heh, you made a rookie mistake alright, just not the one you THOUGHT you made.

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

What concerns me is that you say you can't go over 40...Phoebe's winter tire package has the same size Michelins all around and she'll go any speed with the T/C on...but the torque converter won't lock.

I've had the dealer rotate them front-to-rear. Needless to say that was my last visit to their service bay.

on a side note... i put my MM on the lift at work without turning the air suspension off. When I set it back down off the lift, the back is way down, then it takes like 60 seconds when I start it to air back up to normal.... never seen it over-inflate.

and, same goes with GM (government motors) with air suspension in the rear, always air up afterwards, never overinflated

duh, that makes sense. less load on the suspension so it trys to let it out.

Just a shame the Noob had to spend money to find out his mistake. Just have to ride the wild pony until he needs some new shoes.

If that is the case then yes smaller fronts. I skimmed over the post and thought he had put the front size on all around since stock 245/55-18 size is costly and rare, I mean 4 tires in the same place?? lol

^^This is my first MM so i'm nieve to the simple operations of a MM, I had a Sebring LXI for 9 years and did 90% of the service work with 280,000 miles on it. So that's all I know and it carries over to the MM but I'm getting very valuable information here I never would have imagined I needed for my MM if I didn't join.

It's a common mistake that many people have made with these cars. When I worked at Sheehy Ford a customer bought his car back for the same reason. On my lunch break I voluntarily made the correction myself. Some goofy shop he went to for an oil change put the damn 235/50's in the back and the stock 245/55's in the front. He was very happy until I asked him what kind of oil they used, turns out the crappy 19.99 + free rotation was not his brightest decision. I Ended up discounting him a FullSynthetic service plus free Re-Rotation. I'm glad you joined this site so you can get great advice from all these true MM enthusiasts.

One good thing is this thread reminded me to turn the air suspension off before my car went up for new rears today; I might have forgotten but reading this thread reminded me.

The reason why you need to turn off the Air Suspension is this...

If the ride height is HIGHER, the Air Suspension will release pressure to lower the car.

On a lift, the suspension hangs making the Air Suspension think it is too high.
When the car comes down off the lift, there is no air in the suspension and the car will sit LOWER
possibly making it difficult to remove the car from the lift
until the Air Suspension comes back on and pumps air back into the suspension.
